Does anyone have any experience with this:

http://www.amazon.com/Burgundy-Additional-Storage-Turntable-Settings/dp/B00155F522/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=watches&qid=1243263643&sr=8-2

Where is the storage for the 7 extra watches? I see in one pic they're kind of in front, but how exactly are they stored?

Please let me know if any experience any of you have with this product.

Thanks!

Save your money. I got one of the 8 slot ones a little over 4 years ago and 2 of the heads just quite working before a year was up by the 3ed year all were dead. :?

The watches below sit in kind of a little single row watch box setup side by side.

Anything really good is going to cost you over a grand. But about the best low cost I can think of is the Heiden and the Watch Prince dose have a 4 slot. Remember 3T gets the 10% discount. No experience with any one else who is still building them.

Orbita IMHO is the best but as I said will cost ya. ;)

Is it really that bad? Are the choices for a good watch winder that narrow and that steep? I am looking for a new watch winder too that will not cost up to $1K and will let me put about three or four watches on it.

What do you big multi watch collectors do with all of your autos?

Thanks

I have my higher end watches on Orbita winders and the rest I wind or shake about once a week. Have a bit of a rotation on that.

More and more I have no problem with setting, winding and wearing anymore.

Since posting my original question I've been setting, winding & wearing and have found that I actually enjoy the daily routine

I have a perpetual calendar eco-drive that hasn't lost a millisecond in 4 years that I use as my 'master' and I set my watch-of-the-day to that one.

Skip, is it important to wind them once a week or so? Is it bad for them to remain motionless for prolonged periods of time?

If you are ok with a 4 watch winder, Brookstone makes one that is very nice quality. It isn't on par with the $1000 winders of course, but I think the quality is nice.

Mine is very quiet and to this point (about 6 months) has had no issues. Each winder is separately controlled, with CCW, CW and both direction settings, and about 20 different TPD settings.

Good winder for the money. I found mine used on craigslist for about $100 too. It works well for the money in my opinion.

Actually you can go rather long periods not winding the watch. Climate can play some in this, tempature and humidity. The lubrication just needs some activity now and then to keep from "gunking up" as my dad use to say. He has a couple watches if unworn he may only wind 2 or 3 times a year that he has had for decades. Can't even recall what he has now. But never had a issue.

I just like to do mine often for the pleasure of it more than anything I guess. Most of my hand crankers I wind monthly unless worn. But most autos I'll just pic up give a good shake to spin that rotor a few times and done.

David McCready, the founder of d.freemont watches actually advises that his watches NOT be kept in winders. Modern lubricates do a much better job of not clumping than older watch oils. My watch maker advises that winding once a month is sufficient and actually minimizes  wear.

as your collection grows you will find the need for a winder disappearing quickly :D....but if you really need one then spend the money and buy an Orbita hand6.gif
