Hi Oscar my old friend,

Thanks for stopping by my facebook page.  It's been a long time. I am sure all is well.

Sorry for not posting for sometime as I have been working on a few projects.

Here are some pictures of my "Concept Rubber" as requested.

I have always wanted to design a strap that puts what I have learnt in school in best use (Mechanical engineering).

The design of the strap is mainly inspired by vintage submarines and there are 3 key elements:

1st: "wrap around the case".  I wanted something to be different, in both design and engineering aspects.

2nd: "Gills". The "gills" on both sides of the strap are "see through", which allow your wrist to breath in humid conditions. They are inspired by the valves the ballast tanks of Submarines which are used for submerging or surfacing.

3rd the see through back. The idea comes from vintage diving helmets. This is my favourite part of the strap.

The strap is made of medical grade rubber. Those of you who are familiar with the mold industry may know how challenging this project is. My plan was to have this strap ready for last Christmas, but...

This is my first rubber strap, but definitely not the last. Please enjoy the pictures and feel free to send me any comments.

The actual strap, a prototype I have been testing for months:

Thank you for reading my posts. Again, please feel free to e-mail me anytime for watch talks or any comments on the rubber strap.

Best wishes,

Well I must say this is impressive, I think its a good idea. Looks good.
You could wear your pan in a slightly more hostile environment but not lose the whole style by incasing it.

Thank you for your kind comments.

Oscar, I do have plans for making straps for watches other than Panerai. Do you have any recommendations?

Ted I think the obvious choice would be make one for Rolex....as it would work on the Seadweller,Sub,GMT....and another 100 brands that use this case!....this would be the only strap I would use in place of the bracelet on mine imho...ThumbsUp02.gif

Oscar,

Rubber strap for the Deepsea is already in the mold making process. Its a simpler design as we don't want to take away too much attention from the watch.

Strap for the Submariners will come next.

Best

Ted

This is Awesome,  Im guessing this isnt the final Proto?

I was wondering how you pull the keeper out to wind or change the time?

Yes I am from Taiwan, you too?

With regard to widing: simply push the rubber lining down to access the crown lever and the crown. The rubber will bouce back in seconds.

All the best
