Hi All, Member on a couple of forums, TZ-Uk being where i do most of my posting (UK here). Like diving watches, with good Lume, accuracy etc.... My question is this - are the Miyota's being regulated on the Sea Devil, as the reports on the accuracy are all absolutely incredible (less than +/-5 secs on the huge majority)? And why the move to ETA Ralph on the Mega...? Shaun - (RapidMongman, or TheGreenManalishi)

yes the Miyotas are being regulated at the factory and as far as the move to the eta in the Megalodon is easy.....it's a eta!....and why not have a superior movement in a watch that is going to be one of the sweetest watches of the year imo and at only $80. more than if it was made with a Miyota....no brainer here hand6.gif

Ralf and I stand behind the quality and durability of the Miyota and it will be used in future Benarus models. The ETA was voted on here at 3T, also the Megalodon case was designed to accept ETA or Miyota movement, so it was possible to use a 2824, but the dials and hands need to be made for one movement or the other, a customer can't choose the movement, so it needed to be decided before production begins. As the markets shift and ETA prices rise and quantities drop, I believe the Miyota will be the movement of choice to use. regards, steve

The only issue I have with Miyota 8215 is that the second hand cannot be hacked. For cost control, I doubt whether the Sellita might be an alternate choice in the future or not. From what I heard, they make movement that is compatible (or I rather use the word 'identical') to ETA, i.e. one could say that Sellita SW200 movement is the same movement as an ETA 2824-2. I think they offer their product at substantial lower price than ETA. Not to mention that Swatch Group has made announcement that they will not sell ETA movement out of their group in few years from now. On the other hand, I also wonder whether there is alternate choice from Miyota for the movement that the second hand can be hacked. :dude:

Miyota seem way more willing to do as the customer wants though - ETA wouldnt regulate outta the factory (unless it was COSC) unless im mistaken. Spend the extra saving on R & D would be my opinion? Please dont tell me that this means "Swiss Made" will be on the Dial too? - as that becomes part of the wannabe gang? At the moment everything is spot on at Benarus - dont change things that dont need changing? Obviously if the people voted for ETA then i understand - but a +/-5 secs Miyota sounds better to me!(and a possible cost benefit) Shaun

I'll be the odd man out and say I would rather have the Myota and save $80. ETA just is not a big deal to me.

From what I know, ETA movement comes in many standards, and of course at different price. However, they are regulated out of factory, even though each grade is regulated differently. Typical popular ETA movement standards: Standard (regulated in two positions) Mean daily rate +/- 12 s/d Max variation across 5 positions: 30 s Isochronism (rate after 24H running compared to full wind): +/- 20 s/d Elaboré (regulated in three positions) Mean daily rate +/- 7 s/d Max variation across 5 positions: 20 s Isochronism: +/- 15 s/d Top (regulated in five positions) Mean daily rate +/- 4 s/d Max variation across 5 positions: 15 s Isochronism: +/- 10 s/d Chronomètre Version to COSC specification. :dude:

Personally, I'll take (and pay a premium for) an ETA 2824-2 over a Miyota mvt any day of the week... simply because it is a finer movement, but I purchase watches with Miyota mvts all the time with complete confidence.

I stand corrected-many thanks for that info, its still nowhere near what we are getting for the Miyota's though :P Seriously, i do accept the point about ETA, but just not a big deal for me.
