I recently took the level 1 online watch school class and completed the disassemble, reassemble, and casing of the ETA 2801 that came with the class kit. Now I am very comfortable to start customizing and modifying some watches. It really does help to have the right tools and the Bergeon Swiss made tools that came with the kit are really great.

Now I have ordered some more tools to help with dial protection , hand removal and hand setting and I am waiting for those to arrive this week... and some bezel paint that I ordered today, but here is my plan with this Stealth Moray:

New hands which are flat black and white / blue superluminova, Red second with the same lume. Stealth dial and case. On the bezel I will paint the minute marks (red) and the hour marks and 15, 30, 45 (white) or I will paint all the bezel marks red, I haven't decided yet.

After this steath mod I plan to work on one of the 3 PVD BRG dials that is for sale, I will put black hands on it and paint the bezel marks.

I have just a few extra here if anyone is interested. but I am considering having some more made if people are interested in customizing their Sea Devil or Moray, or having me do it.

ok Oscar, PM sent. I can do this mod with the tools I have, but I want to do it with the new tools so there will be absolutely no evidence that I was in the watch. So far my favorite new tool is the Bergeon rubber air blower No4657, great for cleaning up the movement and inside of the crystal.

I have a set of hands incoming from Steve as pictured with the C3 lume....I think it will really pop on the stealth dial and matching lumed bezel against the DLC case! yahoo.gif

adding mod parts and custom modding by Steve to the Benarus line will be very welcomed to many WIS ...there's nothing like owning a customized watch imho perfect.gif

I am really curious how this bezel paint is going to turn out. This is what was recommended for doing the job and I picked up red, orange, white, and black from Micro-tools.com

http://www.micro-tools.com/store/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=L51122

Lacquer-Stik Paintstick
Lacquer-Stik is a quick and easy way to color brighten stamped, carved and engraved lines or lettering on metals, glass, ceramics, plastic, wood, rubber, fiberboard, etc. Does not smear, remains firm and permanent. Rub it in, wipe off excess. Hardens almost immediately. Conforms to government specifications. Fill-ins expand and contract with parts - withstands temperatures to 500 º F. Each Laquer-Stik is 5" long.

I think that is right. It would look good as is, but I think white at all the hours and red in the minutes will look cool and match the hands, also allowing me to see the hours faster since the dial is all black and hard to see sometimes.

Thanks!
The paint sticks did not arrive today, so I will have to wait until tomorrow to start the bezel work. So today I used a sharpening stone to file down some small wooded "micro spatulas" to smear the paint into the grooves tomorrow.

Wow!!! Fantastic work.  Sign me up.

I bought the stealth and have been regretting it a little.  I love the look, but the watch is so impossible to read 98% of the time, and the lume lasts for such a short period in the dark.  I've been debating selling it, but i pretty much never take it off so that poses a problem.

That is a great idea and great job Steve! Thumbsup3.gif Wow, Amazing pictures too hearteyes.gif

I have respect for your will to understand and learn about what you're job is...watchmaker;) You will surly not come with your own movement tomorrowtoon1.gif,  but bravo for your initiative. You show that you are serious about your work and company.

Here is one more thing that sets Benarus apart IMHO. Specialty in this booming segment of micro boutiques...

Love the idea of modding my watches, will have to see what comes out...  I have to say that I really love everything about my black SD and same with the Moray...I will see if I can improve that! ....I've been thinking about bead blasting my Cuda :dude:...
