Hey all,

I have a possible line on sea devile now but my question is this one is bead blasted. Does anyone have any pros or cons about bead blasted watches cause I have never owned one?

Thanks

Brad

Hi Brad, this is JMO and you will probably get several different ones....I personally like blasted cases, depending on the watch of course, one of my SD's is blasted and it is one of my favorite watches.

As far as how they stand up to marks and wear in general, for me it is hard to say because i never wear the same watch back to back days, and most days don't even wear the same watch for a whole day...someone else can probably give yu a better feel for that.

I say go for it.

it's a matter of taste. I like it in moderation as in the GMT.
I think the bead blasting on the Megalodon is a bit too
much.

That is a great example of "depending on the watch" as I stated above...I agree the blasted Mega IMO is too much

Yea it's just a matter of taste. I have polished, bead blasted and brushed watches. And love them all.

Bead blasting adds a nice dimension to a case and platform and it's a not a very common deafult for watch companies.

I have one watch that's bead-blasted and because of the finish, it looks vintage and really looks great. However, my one concern is that if a section of the blasting scuffs or dings, it won't be easy to find somebody who can fix it up really quick in my part of the world. And to me, that's a big risk area.

So I stopped at one and that's it. Nice to have, nice to hold. But one is enough. Hope this helps.

Well as of today I am still in a holding pattern on whether the seller is going to sell the watch. I will let you know what happens. I made him an offer of $475 which I think is fair, so we will see.

Well guys I really wanted to buy this Sea Devil as it was the face color I wanted (Blue) but we failed to agree on the price. I know demand dictates price but I had to pass on this one and I will have to wait for one that will be for sale in the range I am willing to pay. I thought $475 was a fair price but the seller wanted a lot more. I believe these sold for $319 pre order didn't they?

Steve thanks for the clarification. I would rather have paid that then the $550 shipped.

Steve,

I was just basing my price on what I thought I remembered but here is the actual link that I was referring to

http://www.timetechtalk.com/view_topic.php?id=13628&forum_id=51

Which was $349+shipping not $319

right... the pre-order in 2008, but they all did not sell in the pre-order. i posted the higher prices to show that a 1st time customer (the seller) might have paid the prices above $500, we sold lots of them above $500 on the website. and since the watch has been sold out for over a year, he probably feels the blue dial is worth the $550. I have had higher offers than that on my blue dial and I still have it.

I am just saying, I think the Sea Devil should at least hold a value of $500 and if someone really wants one they will pay more.

sure some are beat up and they should not be priced that high, that is up to the seller to rate his watch honestly.

Steve,

Again thanks for the replys and I have talked with the owner and he is the original buyer and we might have came to a mutual price.

Steve,

Thanks. I hope me and the seller can come to an agreement on this and I get it.

being a member here has it's benefits and 1 of them is getting in on some sweet pre-order deals!.hand6.gif

...the Sea Devil has become very desirable and after market price rarely has anything to do with what a watch may have cost to begin with.... once you wander away from Slopnbc and the TV brands you will see this occurrence of watches actually holding their value and even some instances going up like the Sea Devil more often... so jumping on these types of offerings early is essential....take a look at the Megalodon I and II....sold out in a matter of days without even as much as a prototype to see!

Admin,

Thanks for the reply. I can agree with you on this now. I started my watch collecting via the shop and have bought into the Invicta  hype. There are some Invicta's I would like to have and they are very few and the ones I have bought and resold, I basically lost my arse on the resale side. I have now expanded my watch collecting away from Invicta just because the watch does not hold its value with most of their line.

I purchased my orange sea devil for $450 with virtually all the straps with it. I was putting a value around 500 for a full package in excellent to mint condition. It's a matter of whether or not you're willing to wait for a better deal to come along. I've seen them sold for sub 400 and I've seen guys wanting 600+ for theirs.

Update all,

The seller and I finally came to a deal we can both live with. Hopefully with in a week a new, at least new to me, Benarus Sea Devil blue dial, silver hour, orange minute hand, and bead blasted #35 will be at my doorstep. I am really excited about this purchase and will post pics when I get it.

Thanks for all the replys
