First, hi all, I'm a long time lurker who finally registered.

I've been waiting for this day for a while and I thought my mind was made up, but now I can't decide between Moray models A and E. I had already decided to have a model with orange minute dial, but now I'm second guessing myself... I wish I had the money to buy them both and decide which one to keep (or to keep them both subtlelaugh.gif).

Hi mkg

I'm new to Benarus as well and have been waiting for the chance to buy a Moray since I came across pictures of the stunning Brown Moray 2 (blue is great as well).

I was hoping for Brown again and when it wasn't there I couldn't decide between Orange and Black.  Easy solution (for me) is to sell a few of my other watches to afford both.

And my hardest decision was A or E for the black face.  I looked for pictures of past black Morays and after lots of indecision settled on E.  Now I have a nagging voice in my head telling me to go for the Dart version in Orange.

The sooner reservations close the better, or I'll be annoying Steve to change watches every other day until they are all sold out!

(I'll try hard not to - promise)

Steve (or more experienced buyers)

For new buyers like myself, could you please advise on the likely timescales from reservation to final payment and dispatch.

Simply to make sure I have the money ready and don't spend it elsewhere while waiting.

thanks

Tony

After we submit the list of designs to the factory (next week) the production time will take 5-6 months.

FWIW I bought my first Benarus when the Moray 2 came out. I loved the Moray 1 Dart so it was a no brainer for me to get the Dart 2 however I did struggle over the choice of white vs orange minute hand. In the end I went for the orange as I thought it was truer to a pure diving watch . Once I got my Moray 2 I decided that the white would have looked "cleaner / more sterile". I am probably not explaining this very well but what I can say is that now I have been wearing my Benarus Moray 2 for ...er...6 months or so....there is not a day that goes by when I do not look at it and think " *****ing awesome watch !!". If i had some extra cash I would go B on the Moray 3 just to complement my M2. Actually...if I had the cash I would get the chrono too....

I was just thinking last night as I drank a frosty beer and swapped bands over that Benarus really deserve to be up there with the Kobolds of the world in name and I believe Steve could get there one day( if he even wants to !). I am not a complete watch nutter / know-it -all but I simply cannot fault my Benarus and I am really looking forward to giving it to my son ( who was born just last week ) one day.

I would really like to see the Moray made in 47mm / 18mm with the crown offset at 4o'clock HINT HINT ThumbsUp02.gif

Congrats to the guys that have ordered the M3.

Love the sentiments Garnett. On the Moray 3, I thought I was going to sit this one out since I am locked on for my first Mega but that dart orange dial "K" in bead blasted is singing to me.

I may have to make the wife very unhappy and pull the trigger. i wonder if that orange dial would look better polished vice bead blasted.

Steve,

does the bracelet of the Remora 2 have a diving extension?

And when is it delivered?

Best regards

Within minutes of writing that I looked at more pictures of Black Face Morays and flipped to Model A.

I've just decided that it will be my M-F office watch and will go with the more classical look.  I'll leave my colour for the evenings/weekend.

And I agree on the offset Crown, could work really well with Steve and Ralfs designscool.gif

Steve

Sorry for another colour question but (and theres always a but!) is the M3's Glossy finish 'metallic' looking like the M2's, or simply a gloss finish on the colour as posted?

I have images of the beautiful metallic shine on the M2's Brown and Blue in my head - PLEASE say its an orange version of those.

For the Moray, the black and red will be metalic brushed, but the orange will be glossy ceramic. If the orange was brushed, it would be dark and not bright.

The bracelet is not yet produced, but I will post the details as soon as I have them. The production of these watches will take 5-6 months.

Just pointing this out because some are not seeing it on the website: The Remora 2 bezel is not ceramic, it will be polished alloy with lume filled engravings.

The name "ceramic" gets a lot of attention, but Ralf and I feel the alloy with lume is a nicer more durable bezel choice. Ceramic may not scratch easily, but it can shatter, and it is difficult to engrave and can't be filled with lume.

The alloy can be polished to have the same reflective shine, will not shatter, easy to engrave with the larger letters and marks, and can be filled with C3 lume.

I went with Moray K orange dart/bead blasted. I am still coveting the red dial as well.

I agree. Specs for a Moray 4 including a 47mm and 4 o'clock offset crown would be nice.

Are these cases still made by Fricker or did Benarus switch manufacturers?

Is the Miyota 9015 the equivalent of the 2824? What is the preferred movement? The 2824 has been around so long it has certainly proven itself. Are there different grades of the Miyota 9015 or is a 9015 a 9015?

Thanks

Hi Steve:

In regards to the Moray 3, does PVD include bezel and body or bezel only? If and when bracelets are offered do you know if PVD bracelet will be offered?

A PVD watch is completely PVD. We will not be producing a bracelet for the Moray line.

a 47mm Moray is a Ti47.

a crown at 4 on a Moray hits the case lines in a bad place.

A Miyota 9015 is a great movement and in my opinion decorated much nicer than a 2824-2. It also hacks and beats at 28,800 BPH, the same as the 2824-2.

We never produced a Moray or a Remora with Fricker. Only the 1km was produced there.

Thanks for the clarification, Steve.  Btw, saw you posted that the bracelet for Remora 2 hasn't been decided upon.  For my 2 cents I'd like to see the Megalodon bracelet...

I said it is in production and is not finished, the design is finished. a 24mm Megalodon bracelet would not work well in a 22mm Remora. also the Megalodon bracelet is 5mm thick and the remora case is not thick enough for that to look balanced. also the link design does not fit with the Remora case design.

Yes...but I'd like to see it in non- titanium . Brushed ss instead  !

And u r right. I did not even look closely at where the crown would actually sit on the case if it was placed at 4pm crap.gif

Tell you what Steve - you stick to design and I will just shut up and stick to purchasing. ThumbsUp02.gif
