Here is the second MM mod I did, I bought a titanium case and the other parts and movement came from a donor. I split the sandwich dial to paint the bottom white and the top "US NAVY Intermediate Blue". I thought the blue and titanium finish would work well together. Hands are painted white. I shipped it off to "Jeff the watch Dude" for some finishing touches... gasket fitting and stem cutting and size adjustment.

Chinese 6497. they are good movements, accurate and durable. I haven't had any issues with them.

I don't own one of these homage nine eaters yet, but if I did I would want it to look like one of these fine examples.

These panny homages are a blast, if you can use your cell phone you can build one of these, the great thing about the sandwich dial is you can even be a lume pro cuz you don't have to stay between the lines when you lume the back plate!

I like what you are doing with these, Steve. And there seems to be a unifying them running behind the watches as they seem almost a set and compliment each other very well.thumbsup.gif

Okay, here is the big question Steve. ( I own about 10 MM's in varying styles) but the only problem I have with them, and maybe you got it resolved with Jeff the watch dude. is, Can you know Submerse them? I will still only use straight proven beaters on my dives. (see: Invicta, Seiko, Kronos) But I would LOVE to be able to at least dive in my pool with an MM on. Anyone else rectified this at all?

Jeff changes the gasket in the watch where the crown and stem enter, also the lever on mine is very tight now and so is the winding. I don't have a pressure tester here, but I think I will run a test this summer and use it for my pool watch and see what happens.

Thanks everyone, it is a lot of fun to do. I built a lot of military models as a kid, so this is fun and similar in a way.

Here are the photos from the 1st mod, to show the process.

dissasemble

paint choices... Aircraft Grey, white, black, red

carefully split sandwich dial for painting, use a razor

hand paint the numbers under the dial

spray hands, then hand paint the center flat black

assemble

ready to wear out for the evening!
