Looks very nice.  Did you use a surgical blade?  How about a photo on the wrist?Thumbsup3.gif

Looks ok. Hopefully you didn't cut exactly to 22. Leather softens with age and the ends that touch the lug horns tend to open up a bit with age. This could mean a slight loosening in those areas.

That's a great combo.ThumbsUp02.gif

Thanks for the heads up! Although this is Ted’s Dive Strap, which is a woven nylon (?) material, but I did cut it large and squeezed it between the lugs.

Oh, and Axelay….I used a box cutter with a fresh blade to cut the strap and a file to size the support tube within the strap.

Lance,

It is amazing what 2mm difference in the strap will make with the overall appearance.  Excellent execution!

Thanks Gerald, I personally like the look and feel of a wider strap. Ted’s buckle balances the Vortex very well IMO.

Just a heads up for though’s thinking about ordering this dive strap and buckle.....

Ted has his dive straps available in 26mm and 24mm widths. He will notch them down to your specified lug width (narrower then 24mm).

However, if you presently order this set up. He’s sending them out with a new material strap, which has a finer weave to the fabric and is much stiffer (for ease of feeding the strap into the buckle) then the original strap’s looser, softer weaved material (As shown). Having both the original and new straps, I much prefer the original strap. So this is something to consider.

When my order arrived for the Vortex, they sent the new material strap in lieu of the original material strap, so I (being impatient…LOL) for the correct strap to arrive.

I notched the strap I used on my Shark Diver. Btw, it’s a good thing I practiced on a 2 pc maratac I had before attempting surgery on Ted’s strap…LOL

Anywho’s here’s a photo of the two straps side by side.  Top is the origional (on the Vortex) and second is the new strap.
