I have a Kampfschwimmer with the acrylic crystal. The crystal has a couple of hairline cracks along with some scuffs and scratches. It looks brilliant! The more I wear this watch the more it looks like a vintage timepiece.

However, it also has a display back that I'd like to swap for a solid back. My plan is to get it custom engraved to replicate what the watch's original wearers did with theirs.

The question is, can I order a solid replacement case back for this watch? Has anyone here already done that?

Warm welcome to 3T, Uwe.ThumbsUp02.gif

I have a Kampy, too and it's also on crystal back. I've not seen a steel back in this forum but maybe I can point you to the Italian watch forum. I seem to recall an Italian poster/modder sometime back. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the welcome and your advice, you big rusty pig. subtlelaugh.gif (I'm sure there's a good story there...).

I would assume that the othere watches in Dievas' Vintage collection use the same case, and since some of them do have solid case backs, wouldn't one of them fit the Kampfschwimmer? That is of course assuming that they're available to purchase seperately.

So a solid back was at one point either standard or available as an option from Dievas. Looking at yours I can only think that it's a blank canvas waiting for some special treatment. I know there was some other manufacturer that once offered a 'pre-engraved' solid case back for their version of the Kampfschwimmer, only I don't recall who it was.

Of course the Rolex powered Panerai with the California dial wasn't the only watch used by the original Kampfschwimmers, however, I do think that it was one of the more interesting looking of them.

Here's an example of an original case back that I'd like to replicate:
