Hi 3T. Here is my Seiko Kamikaze, one of my favorite Seikos. It's among my favorite tool watches, too. However, I noticed some scuff marks and scratches all over the bracelet and want to have the bracelet restored back to original at my watchsmith.

I can have it restored back to brushed OR I can have the entire watch (case and bracelet)POLISHED to have a different-looking Kamikaze. Polishing it might be cool. If I go polished, the watchsmith said he could still brush it in case I don't like the polished look anymore.

What do you think? Back to brushed or go polished?

Here's a closer look.

Jeff...I think a Brushed finish suites the toolish spirit of the Kamikaze better...all just my opinion.

The brushed is obviously going to be easier to maintain, and given that you already want to get the bracelet refinished tells me that you don't mind giving this one a good beating!

All polished cases and bracelets don't really suite me...too shiny and too much 'bling' for me...but, as is always the case, to each his own as a timepiece is all about that personal preference...bravo.gif

As you pointed out, if you just want to see what this Kamikaze looks like all polished to satisfy the curiosity...you can always return it to a brushed finish fairly easily.

Mine has been living on Zulu, Nato's and I've been thinking about mounting it back up to the bracelet recently...

Thanks, Chris. I value your inputs very highly. I will reserve my comments after some more of our 3T brothers hit this thread with their views also.

On your own Kamikaze, did you know it's getting a lot of rave reviews at other forums? Some folks even dress it up on wider leather notched for 20 and the variants I've seen on black calf with white stitches look really good.

I have a few mesh on 20/21 incoming and I'll see how this Kamikaze will transform.

Again, thanks for your views on my query

Not so fanatic of polished either...Brushed might be the best...Or bead blasted for a cool custom if possible?
But then, there's no return.

Agree with the above comments. I find polished looks somewhat cheap and screams, "look at me!"

That being said, I do like to change things up and since the process is reversible back to brushed, maybe you could try the polished for a while to see how you like it.

Thanks William and Blueradish. You make very good points. Will revert with my own view after a few more inputs. Thumbsup3.gif

I like polished, but not on this watch. And, most scratches on this bracelet can be removed with a sanding sponge or other methods. Just follow the grain and proceed carefully.

Chris, William and Mike....thanks for your inputs.

I guess I now have to divulge my decision.....GO POLISHED. As Chris said, it's reversible anyway and my watchsmith can polish it for just US$22.00. So round trip on this curioisty will be just US$44. I'm just very curious how this one will look polished knowing full well polished watches seem to attract dings and scratches faster than other finishes.

Maybe after a few months or so, I'll bring it back to the original. Will keep you posted.

Thanks again
