I have been on a quest for a new tool watch; but it had to have some criteria met;

Tritium lume

Auto movement

Sapphire crystal

Good size (44-46 mm)

Steel Bracelet

Oh yeah, and affordable

Some of the candidates were, of course a Marathon GSAR, the Dievas Code Red, Praetorian Signifer amongst others. And then I saw that Deep Blue had this new model: DayNight Ops.

I'm not much into the name, but everything else works great. As you might expect, it is a tank with a 44.5 mm case, 22 mm lugs. It is powered with an affordable but reliable Miyota 8215 movement. Blue Tritium for lume with a double orange marker at the 12 and tritium marker in the bezel. The steel bracelet is a non tapering 22 mm and is quite comfortable. Also has a 300m WR rating. And finally, at $350 it's package that is hard to beat!!

I'll let the pics tell the rest of the story;

The case back...

And, of course the Lume :cool:

Thanks for looking woohoo.gif

Bill

VERY nice, congrats!!! I was looking at those the other day while browzing Deep Blue's website for their 1000m diver I still can't not forget and want to own so bad:) especially at $267!! I have never own a Deep Blue but hear so many good things about their 1000m and 2000m divers.

Anyway I digress, I saw these (new?) Marathon like Tritium divers in the mid 300's and was impressed by their looks.. I also always wanted a Marathon tool watch. They are very similar... so it was tempting but I managed to show restraint and not pull the trigger... for once!subtlelaugh.gif

So what made you go for the DB instead of the Marathon? How much is the Marathon?

Congrats again and thanks for posting the pics.

thankyou.gif Guys!! I think I will enjoy this one for awhile!

Brice - The Marathon GSAR has a 41 mm case (a little small for my taste), they also have a ETA 2824 movement which probably explains the $700 price tag.

party.gifBill, I think you found one of the best deal one can find.hand6.gif  You are absolutely right, this timepiece has the perfect specs. and  everything to be called a ''Tool Watch''.  I honestly don't see anything in this price range that gives you more for your money.  And.....it's a beauty IMHO.  The hands, the dial, the tritium vials, bracelet, bezel...I like everything on this one at the exception of a very minor detail.  I hate when the put too much specs. on the dial, the SAPPHIRE should have been on the case back, not on the dial IMO.  That said, this is a very minor detail and the whole package screams quality.  How is the bezel operation on it?  Enjoy and wear it in good health!
