IanM,

Thank you for the wishes and the fantastic perspective on this watch. I was somewhat reluctant with this watch b/c of the size and the lack of a date window. I have a full-sized Seamaster Automatic (Bond), which I love... perfect heft and size. But I realized an heirloom type/wedding watch should be elegant and simple. I think the Railmaster simplicity and elegance is perfect. We were able to find it used at Bailey Banks and Biddle for $1460 after taxes, so it was VERY hard to pass up.

Thanks much, Dragnattck. We are scheduled for 10/10/09 (no, she is not with child... everyone wonders this). I asked her if she wanted 10/10/10, but she said if she had to wait for a year, there would be much suffering.

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding and the new Omega. I too have a Seamaster, but with black dial/bezel and have been very happy with it. I've also spent many an hour at my local AD perusing the Omega display and occasionaly trying something on and the Aqua Terra line is one of my favorites. I don't think you can go wrong with an Omega.

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding and the beautful Omega!  Very lucky man to have future wife that understands your WIS needs.

I know engraving is a no no on watch values, but she may want to do so to mark the occassion.

I suggest you get her a ladies datejust if she is of the kind to appreciate such a nice watch.  Maybe for a first anniv.  Thumbsup3.gif

Very important. Don't want to go wandering off to other women for watches when I can get them at home. ;)

I am looking to get her an automatic Omega Seamaster, but they are still quite pricey.

Sad news. The watch died one week after purchase from Bailey Banks & Biddle. It was purchased used for $1460. We had it resized and then I wore it. The movement stopped about 10 minutes later and could not be revived for more than 10 seconds. Even after winding and using the rotor. We returned the watch but cannot find anything for close to the price we paid. :(

We are still looking. We have our hearts set on the Railmaster.

Was sending it to a watchmaker for repair on their dime not an option?

Negatory. They would not cover the cost of the repair. The sign said "as is," so I guess we were lucky they took it back. The most they would offer is a refund. They said they tested it before we bought it, but my guess is that they did not test it over the course of a few days, only a few minutes.
