This is probibly a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway.  For watches that aren't in use do you simply let then run down, do you open the crown to stop them or doesn't  it really matter.

Well Ed...I'm sure people will have different opinions on this mainly due to the fact that some people like to use mechanized watch winders.

My opinion only...I don't use watch winders and probably never will, and I let my watches naturally run down when not on the wrist.  I would recommend that you never store them with the crown pulled out though...depending on the type of crown seal design being used this could subject the inside of the watch to unwanted humidity.

If you end up having watches that aren't being worn very often (IMO...once a month at least), it is probably a good idea to give them a full wind and let them run down once a month to give the mechanicals an opportunity to move the lubricants around.

My 2 cents!

I have maybe 25 watches I use in rotation....So I let them running out of power. Means that everyday, I pick a new watch after the "feeling's moment" and regulate it on the internet clock...
A watch-winder would be usefull if I was rotating between maybe 4-6 automatic watches but I don't see myself having around 15 pieces on watch-winders and around 10 hand-crankers sleeping in the box...crap.gif
I want to have the full opportunity to choose what I want in the morning, between all my watches.
For those thinking: I can't do that coz half my pieces are in the bank's safe on the other side of the town...
Well I solved it: I have a safe. So no bank trips!
