I was somewhat surprised to see Amazon selling Panerai Timepieces now (especially since they are selling brand new watches, with 2-year warranty, No Sales Tax - except in NY or OR, at discounts that appear to be quite good for new-in-box with all papers etc). (and I'm not talking about 3rd Party sellers on Amazon...this is now Amazon direct). Depending on the model, I've seen preowned versions listed for higher prices in some cases than what they are selling these for new. The wording Amazon uses in their warranty info is sort of "curious" noting that "in some cases" they buy their watches from an AD ... .... "Amazon.com in some cases buys watches from authorized dealers, distributors, and other established lines of distribution within the watch industry. In these cases, the manufacturer’s warranty may not apply because we have not purchased the watches directly from the manufacturer. When the manufacturer's warranty may not be available, Amazon.com offers this warranty for your watch. This applies only to products sold by Amazon.com. Does not apply to products sold on our site by third-party merchants or through third-party areas such as Amazon.com Marketplace." Anyway, just passing the info along as I know that we have a number of 3T'ers that love Panerai (me included!!!) - I'd love to add one someday. You can check out the Amazon Direct pieces here: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=amb_link_355993022_3?ie=UTF8&rh=n%3A377110011%2Cp_4%3APanerai%2Cp_6%3AATVPDKIKX0DER&page=1&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=special-offers-1&pf_rd_r=0D8A10D86VHTN0BDN7RD&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=1307691982&pf_rd_i=B004VGENTS

Agree Joe...interesting that they are willing to match the base Panerai warranty (which is 2 years as well). I do see that the Amazon warranty seems to be focused on the movement and excludes issues with the crown/stem/case. Obviously, the big question would be how well this warranty would work in real life...if I need to send the watch in for valid warranty work, who does the work?...I sort of doubt it would be an authorized Panerai warranty center...maybe not that big of deal, but likely a bigger deal if the movement happens to be an in-house movement. ![]()

I agree with you. Not knowing who is actually doing the warranty repair, would be worrisome. How would this effect the re-sale value, where would they obtain movement parts for repair and would they be authentic Panerai parts or after-market parts. At least with an authorized repair or Ad, you know it's backed by Panerai
