Glad to have found a nice forum like yours. I'm a newb, so please go easy on me.

I have a watch that I'd like to repair for a relative. Unfortunately, I don't live anywhere near a repair shop. I want to put an OC-500 stainless steel strap on a Casio Oceanus (I know it fits). The problem I have is that the Oceanus seems to have these really funky barbell strap pins that I just can't figure out. I don't want to break the new ones when they arrive via mail so I was hoping to get some advice/instruction.

Thanks!

Welcome to 3T, geneticsdave. This is a nice place. I will leave the other gentlemen on this forum to answer you. I have zero experience with your challenge but it's good you raised it. :)

Sorry for the blurry pic - darn iPhone camera. If it's not clear enough, I will get some with the better cam when the wife returns with it after the weekend.

Thanks in advance!

The post is bent a bit (normal wear and tear?) - I received the watch face, broken strap and pins in a baggie (one pin was completely broken) from my relative who wanted it fixed (I'm kind of the fix-it guy in the family).

It looks like one end slides onto the post to become a single barbell unit, but it must be pretty tight in order to stay on during normal wear (granted most force is pulling downward and not to the side to pull the bell off).

Anyways, I have ordered a couple new straps in the mail and wanted to get some advice prior to install. The new straps said they come with replacement pins and I assume they are the same as the straps are genuine Casio parts.

Not sure how much you guys repair your own, but I thought it might be worth a try - these pins sure are unique, I have mostly only seen springbar pins.

Have a great weekend!

I can't tell anything from the pic but if the new straps ship with the pins maybe they will work fine. Good luck and have a great weekend yourself ;)

Well, the metal linked band came with tension pins (folded over and bowed at one end), so install was a snap!

I also got a new rubber wrist band and it came with the barbell pins. It looks like you just slide one end over the post and tension holds it together. I haven't installed it yet (I like the metal better), but it doesn't look like it will be too difficult (as long as I don't bend the posts...

Thanks for the welcome and the replies. I will try to post a picture of the new rubber strap and barbell pins when I get a second - just for future reference.

Thanks again!
