Simon , Just hang in there .... I actually do know something about your situation ... I got an education on manic depression and depression .... Bipolar disorder also is in this category .... Its all genetic, and situations trigger worse times or better times .... I learned that science knows LITTLE about mental health ! I read books and articles , scaned the web for answers, talked to doctors etc. etc. .... our USA health ins will not help much .... A certain ins co. I had 10 years ago would pay for abortions but had a 5 K limit on any mental illness coverage !
My wife finally received help when a smart doc sent her blood to the Mayo clinic for genetic testing ... apparently it costs MUCHO dollars for the tests ?!? BUT it helped tremendously ! It showed she had a "quirk" in one gene and that her serotonin level is low from lack of a lithium count .... Now she has the proper meds to level her .... So little is done about research for mental health but it will become epidemic ..... society today with high stress is breaking people by the millions ! I hope you can find a doc that will give you the correct levels of what you need .... a lack of just one chemical for you would trigger sorrow when you shouldnt have to be sad .... Its all because one minute chemical is not motabolising properly for you .... You are one good doc away from what will help
