It rubs right in.  If you spend a couple of minutes rubbing it and then let it set for about 30 minutes, the only thing you will notice is that you leather is softer.  I agree on Neets for boots or Mink Oil (smells funny to me) for waterproofing but have found the HD best for jackets, gloves and saddlebags.  I even have used it exotic staps including ostrich, snake, gators, and shark (usually won't soak in the shark side, but really softens the inside.  There could be a lot of better products and this is probably just another conditioner with the HD label.  The other product I've tried is Lexol, but does soak in as fast and seems to take more rubbing.
