Anyone had experience purchasing through overstock? They have some interesting watches at what seems to be competitive prices. But not sure if they are going to come with the serial numbers and documentation, or if they are legit. Seems like with a company of that size, there should be accountability if they are selling fakes. I chatted last night with a salesperson there who said that the watch that I wanted comes direct from manufacturer. But he stopped short of saying that it would have all the proper documentation, etc... Anyone have any experience with Overstock? |

I have purchased from the big O quite some time back and received an authentic Hamilton SWAT at a killer price. They sell closeouts and overstocks so there shouldn't be a need to worry about fakes. Mine came with all the original packaging. Hope that helps some...:D |

That helps. I have ordered other things from Overstock, and been generally pleased, but nothing that was a big-ticket item, and nothing that I was ever worried would have been a knock-off... A related question, though... is there any negative implications of a model being discontinued? For example, some of the models on the overstock site, you can't find listed on the brand's website anymore. |

While I have never personally purchased any watches from them, I have seen dozens of posts from people that have. None that I have seen have related any negative experiences. Edit: After reading this post again, I realized I did buy 2 each Seiko SNK809 from them a couple of years ago at a killer price. The Seiko's came through in great shape with box an papers for each! |

I don't think a discontinued item makes the item bad. Sometimes things are discontinued just because of a color change, or slight technical improvement. |

No problems here, I got my Hammy Khaki chrono last summer from them for 400, box and papers. It's a great watch for a killer price. Cheers, Griff |

Good and bad here. I bought more than a few watches from Overstock with some costing up to $1000. The watches were all legit in complete factory packaging, etc. Three were DOA (defective on arrival). One needed to be serviced. The return process was a hassle. They would not refund my money for a dead on arrival watch (would not run, period). It is a long story. I wound up with a replacement after an eight week wait. I haven't bought from them again. |

Yesterday, before reading this, I got the courage and made the plunge... Watch is supposed to arrive on Monday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. |

No need to be concerned. I'm sure your watch will be just fine. One of my most expensive watches came from them (a Corum) and it has been perfect. |

Thanks everyone for the input. I ended up getting the B&M Hampton Square Chrono. I bought it just at the end of a father's day sale that they were running and ended up paying about $300 less than what I've seen it there and elsewhere listed for (which is still much less than MSRP). It's a nice watch and the experience with O was positive. Only complaint is that order processing took a few days, and shipping was slow. So when I was super excited to get the watch, I still had to wait a while before it arrived. But that is bound to happen. Attachment: Photo_20.jpg (Downloaded 67 times) |
