Okay, Guys...I was going to post this in the J&S section, but I thought I would get quicker response here.

I'm going to get this strap for my PRS50 and I need some opinions:

1) Should I get the 22mm lug or a 24mm lug notched down?

2) What stitching color?  I kinda like the yellowish/tan in the picture...but are there any other opinions?

Thanks!!!

Bigger is better, but I have never done it with a sleeved endpiece. If you can get through it without it getting chewed I imagine it would look great. Yellow or red would work....but I like white. Very cool watch haven't seen it beforecool10.gif

Forgot to mention...if I decide on the 24mm, Jason will be doing the notching!

It has a 42mm case and the 22mm lugs seem to carry it quite well.  I don't know if 24mm would be overdoing it.

I think a 22mm would serve the watch better. The '50 isn't a lightweight, but I think a 24mm (just looked at a very similar Delaurian I have in comparison to the '50 here in front of me) would be too much for this fairly compact watch.

Hi Ken,

My only experience at having a strap notched turned out pretty ghastly, so, I would probably stick with 22mm.  As for stitching, I think the strap pictured looks very nice.  Alternatively, I would probably opt for red stitching. to pick up the red of the dial and second hand.  Red would also match my bloodshot eyes today.

Okay...I'm getting a 22mm consensus here...and I'm leaning toward red, but I'd like a little more input!!!  For example...where is PAX the incorrigible?  The Dawg, Oscar and Mister Color himself...TonyD, the Zipmeister, Steve, et al?  toon1.gif

Hi Ken - can't speak for the others that you actually want an opinioin from, but I would go 22mm as well - I have seen a few good notch jobs - but I think a 24 would overpower the watch.  If you MUST go 24mm notched, and the notched ends are finished off properly - ya just have to take care of the "wings" left behind after the notching cos they invariably rub against the lugs. Accent stitch - red, black, white or mustard color are your options, I reckon - each picks up something on the dial. Cool strap by the way..

Have fun! IanM   hand6.gif

I think you guys are right.  24mm would overpower the case, especially since it is a 5.5mm thick band...and I think I'll go with the red stitch!

Yeppers 22mm and that Ken I think is going to make that watch look like it's up another level or 2. That will be sweet. And a dull red not bright will just set it off that much more. ;)

Ken I have to agree 22mm is the way to go. As for the stitching. White is classic and will allow you to use the sshiznit and be a great combo on the PRS50. Tough call. If you only want to use the strap for the PRS50, go with the red stitching.

22mm, and red stitching. I liked the suggestion about the subtler red rather than a bright red.

Looks like a nice combo, and I agree about the 22mm size, especially with the strap thickness.

But, I gotta say...I don't particularly like brown straps with black dials.  I'd go with a black strap if I were you.

I do really like Skip's suggestion about a dull red stitching color, but it will limit the watches you can use it on (somewhat).

Very cool watch, BTW :).

Hmmm....on my screen it does look like a distressed black. (although I do like some black watches with brown straps)... At any rate I just ordered it and specified: 22mm with dull red in black.

This might be a late post. I got the PRS-50 and its a great watch but due to its physical characteristics it was hard to decide on the strap. Here arer a couple I tried.

Bund

Velcro

Defaubre

I eventually decided on the bund because its was different and looked good.

WC...thanks for your input.  I did order the black strap (it is black, I checked with Jason) from J&S Straps.  I did wear a bund style band on my Glycine Airman in Vietnam in order to keep the metal off my wrist, but I have never been enamored with the "look" of the bund.  The nylon looks nice and I may try that...I also like the look of the "aviator" straps, but think it somewhat "off" on a dive watch!

I also like the look (and comfort) of this Hirsch twin pad strap (in black) from lonestarwatches.com.  I have had one on another watch for sometime...and love it...it is amazingly inexpensive for the quality at about $24....but I will wait for the J&S Strap first.

22mm Hadley-Roma Breitling Style  Sport leather strap in dark brown with white stitching. It will make your diver's watch very distinctive.

However,as for myself I had a Hamilton Khaki GMT Automatic in black dial
on a 22mm Breitling Style Sport Calfskin in extra long in dark brown.
Friends thought my watch was a Jaeger LeCoultre Master Geographic.

One of them like it so much, I've wound up selling it to him.
