Back to work, Monday morning...Damn. Last week my wife and vacationed in Lake Placid in the Adirondack Mountains in northern NY state. This vacation we decided to head for the mountains instead of the sea. We rented a private home in Lake Placid that was secluded in the forest & overlooked Whiteface Mountain. The fall colors were at their peak up there, absolutely amazing color and views.

One of the days we hiked Mnt Jo. It is one of the smaller mountains at about 3000 feet. The views were amazing.

At the base of Mnt Jo sits Heart Lake. I was wearing the G-Shock G-7100D.

On another day we did a trail hike around Owen and Copperas Ponds. The trails through the forests were beautiful. We came across several small waterfalls. Lots of beaver habitats in the many streams.

The ponds shorelines were lined with large boulders, great for scrambling. During the day of the ponds hike I was wearing the Black Monster.

On one of the final days we decided to explore Whiteface Mountain. Elevation of about 5000 feet. I had backpacked this mountain in the winter during a previous trip but my wife had never seen this mountain before. This is one of the prettiest mountains in the Adirondacks. The summit is all bare rock, above tree line. The wind was ripping pretty good up there, 50 mph gusts. The views were spectacular. Here's a shot of me at the summit with Lake Placid in the distance. There is a 1000 ft cliff drop-off about 2 ft in front of me in the photo.

The day of the Whiteface Mnt summit I was wearing Ray's Seudo Ruhla.

I also took the Zinex Nitrox. It got some wrist time while hanging around evenings during the week. Also wore it to meet friends in town one night for dinner & drinks.

Beautiful shots as usual, Demo.  The fall colors look stunning.  Thanks much for sharing with your WIS buddies.  Almost feels like I got to see those vistas myself...minus the scary wind and drop-offs! :dude:

Thanks guys. :D

It's been kind of tough to refocus on all the work back in my office this morning. I still keep drifting back to last week and all it's beautiful scenery. We really lucked out with this year's trip. The weather was perfect every day. Great for watch photography. subtlelaugh.gif

Shady, the Whiteface Lodge was about 20 minutes drive time from where we were. I know the lodge, very beautiful. The lodge is on the west side of the mountain, we were on the east side.

Shady I would not mind having a place with a front and back yard like that. Beautiful and peaceful. :)

Hey Shady, I think I recognize that second photo of your Dad's. It looks like a place called Marcey Field in the town of Keen just south of Lake Placid. Backpackers sometimes use it to park their cars and hit the trails to the mnts in the area. I've been backpacking the mountains up there since 1993. Thanks for sharing your dad's photos.

Pablor, of course I take time for watch shots... a true WIS at heart. yourock.gif
