Lot's of guys with dress watches. I need to take a pic of a nice one I just got in. Yes I think size is and issue, but more than that the Sport watch has become the norm....a watch that can take a beating, is WR etc. Post up some pics everyone:) |

It's winter and I have the same question every time I can't get my sleeve buttoned around the current style over sized watches. I find myself reaching for one of my vintage watches or one of the d.freemonts in my avatar at such moments. Why does it seem that every one wants to be a faux diver when the closest they get to water is washing their hands after a break? |

1) 'cause I don't wear suits anymore. 2) 'cause I live in a warm climate and wear mostly short sleevs. 3) 'cause most thin watches are quartz...... HOWEVER, I do have a few that I consider "dress" ..... Trias Cushion Case... I have some dress watches which I wear sporadically but I do find myself going for something sportier usually. And like Ken, I rarely wear long sleeves even in the cold of Winter. You remember WR necessarily should negate dress status though. My Stowa Marine LE is good size at about 42mm but I would still its dress... of course it's not really a big watch these days... Got a commander too, but its not as pretty as JD's.  |

I'm in the market for a good dress watch. I don't currently have one. My criteria: 1)It must be mechanical (auto or wind) (Won't wear it often enough to want to deal with a dead battery) 2)Simple; Hours, minutes, seconds (Date with or without Day is ok). 3)I prefer Silver case & black leather strap for a dress watch but a bracelet can work in some cases. I don't think I want to spend big dollars on a watch that won't get worn very often.......<$400. Probably end up with a nice Jacque Lemans or Mido....possibly a Seiko....and possibly a nice condition vintage Omega. |

I absolutely love the watch, though I replaced the black croc strap it came with, with a reddish-brown strap, which I think looks better and which I think makes the deep blue hands and numbers more noticeable.
