Does anyone have (or ever heard of) a tight turning bezel on an Orange Monster? I am looking for solutions to freeing it up a bit. I don't remember it being so stiff when I first got the watch about 2 years ago. I don't know, can dust cause it to get tighter? Should I just use some compressed air to blow out the dust and maybe add some oil? Thanks in advance. --Paulie

My monster bezels are very smooth in operation pauliedoggs...rather than compressed air, I would try submerging/soaking in warm tap water (crown screwd down of course), and give the bezel a number of turns too to see if you can free up any debris that may have collected in there. I have a Seiko Sumo that has a really stiff bezel (came that way to me as I'm not the original owner)...if I soak that one in water, it frees up nicely but only while it remains wet...once it dries completely, the bezel goes back to running overly stiff. I would be interested to hear what other 3T WIS say about lubricating the bezel...I've thought about that, but I'm not sure that is a good idea. I'm sure some lubricants would be a much better choice than others.

My monster bezels are very smooth in operation too. Even after several years of use. A little silicone spray would help. Or a little precision mechanics oil. I sometimes take this oil for oiling the crown.

I think you can oil a bit the bezel with any kind of oil (the spring down the bezel is steel as well). Be carefull when oil the crown, because of O-ring which is rubber and not all oil are compatible with rubber

I wear my monster whenever I go fishing in the salt. If I forget to rinse it with fresh water after I'm done, the bezel will usually get a little hard to turn. In those cases, I just pop the bezel off, rinse it really good, then pop it back on.

I just take a sharp, thin knife, work it in between the bezel and case, then lift the knife handle up until the bezel pops off. It helps if you don't have the bezel pip lined up perfectly with the 12:00 position. As you know, there are indentions on the case and bezel. Turn the bezel until one of the bezel protrusions line up with one of the indentions on the case. It's easier to slide the knife in that way.

I have a couple of monsters and the bezel normally turns fine but I have found that when I take them in the ocean, because of the design of the bezel, it is easy for sand or salt (some kind of grit) to get under the bezel and make it difficult to turn. Holding them under running tap water has always resolved the problem for me.

I used to have a Black Monster, and once in a while the bezel would get REALLY tight and hard to turn. I think the reason was grime would get under the bezel. I had the watch before I recently became interested in watches as a hobby (maybe soon I'll have enough knowledge to call myself a WIS right now I'm just a WUSS!), and it's just a coincidence that this model is so popular among WISs. Back then I didn't really care about my watch, and for some reason my dog like to grab it off my dresser and run away with it. I don't know why he was so attracted to my watch, I can only guess it was because it smelled like food, since up until last year, I used to work in a place that made dog food (hahahahaha just kidding, I worked in a restaurant kitchen when I flunked out of school and now I'm a assistant to my friend Adam aka craniotes another WUS and a really cool guy who likes me because I am so a good person and I can shine his watches for him, though some of the stuff we turned out was pretty much dog food hahaha). Anyway, sorry to ramble. I think the dog was making a mess of the watch, and was slobbering all over it- he is an English Bulldog and I lovvvvvvve my doggie. Now I keep my watches put away in a drawer with my other toys so they don't get messed up (dog's teeth do not treat steel or leather things kindly). To clean the watch, I would just soak it in hot soapy water and that would do the trick. I recommend using dish liquid instead of hand soap because it doesn't leave residue on the watch and my friend craniotes told me that is the best thing and he knows everything about watches and is really a good speller too.!
