Hello, me again. As you know I bought this ARBUTUS (avatar) about a week ago. I live in Thailand and they are in all the big malls here. They usually have a service guy there for the watch. Different booths have different models. They are usually about 4 booths down from Maurice Lacroix.:? They run from about $200 - 300 dollars. Seems to be some kind of Mineral glass, I'm not sure. It doesn't look like sapphire though. The strap is great. It locks very easily so you never bend the strap when taking it on and off. Mine keeps on tickin' for almost 2 days when not in use. I left mine in the box for 1 1/2 days and still running in the morning. Hasn't even lost 1 minute in a week. Keeps time very well. Comes with a 2 year warranty in a nice wood box. That's a very handsome watch! I like open heart models and have many. I only have one Arbutus, but I really like it; regulator model below. |

Hi Carlos! Its nice to see your unbiased ArbutuS opinion. As you mentioned, they are alive and well in the Far East - a long kept secret in my opinion. I am thrilled to be able to carry them, and they are my favorite brand. They really offer great bang for the buck. Your particular model is awesome looking! Don't worry; you are and always will be my largest Trias cheering section  Currently, the GMT hands are used in conjunction with external bezels. The movements are sourced from a few places. Mostly, Tianjin (Sea Gull). They actually do all their own QC (ArbutuS) to ensure they are getting Grade A movements, then they add their own blue rotor and a few other customizing touches. Ahh, Mineral OK. That regulator is very nice. I think I saw that one also, but too big for my wrists. I'm 120 soaking wet. :) I don't know where my tastes for watches come from, but it's amazing how a person can put this together by hand. Hard to explain to people that don't get it. Anyway, finally I can post pictures of mine instead of those internet pics. Here it goes.     |
