I would consider 50m. water resistence only good for washing hands or getting caught in the rain. I definately would not swim in one of this rating and definately not shower in one or wear it in a hot tub.

I hate to say it but it all depends on the local pressure on the seals, not the average.  So if you are in hot water it will decrease the rating and any excessive pressure like diving in will some times make a marginal seal leak.  Since you love to take them apart, I personally would recommend you use a silicon lubricant on the rubber O rings to extent there life and check for burs at the seal area.  Edgel is right don't swim in it.

I wouldn't deliberately get any watch rated under 200m wet.

Yep, I made the mistake of wading in the bay with my Poljot Chrono...
When I got home, tiny droplets of moisture under the crystal.  Salt water!!!!  Had it serviced 2 days later. that was rated for 35m?   I should have known.  I generally don't wear any watch in the water.
