Great guide ... thanks for passing this on!

A guy with a watches dangling from the inside of his raincoat I understand; ridiculously low pricing pings the radar but to think there are actual "good" fakes out there means it's a business.  Geez.

Buyer beware is right!

A totally reputable dealer friend of mine showed me a fake "Panerai" (including case, box, papers, etc.) a few weeks ago that was so good it just blew me away. My friend is one of the most knowledgeable watch people in this country and he said he probably would have bought it if the person selling it to him hadn't told him right away it was a fake. This thing was scary good.

Hmmm interested document... I will have to keep this in mind if buying anywhere other than reputable locations.

Funny this happened to me in Turkey though, kind of like what Skipdog mentioned.  Only over there they tried to buy my watch which I gladly sold to them for $30.... since I just bought it from the guy down the street for $2.

Of course I didn't tell him where I bought it... he just asked if it was real, and since the guy I bought it from told me it was... I didn't lie watch2.gif of course I doubt it keep time at all.
