I stumbled across a place called the Cigar King today in an Industrial Park that sells watches. The place is sort of hard to find and when I walked in I could find the watches. They were tucked back in the back of the smoking bar/lounge.

Not being a Cigar smoker (or smoker period) I'm already gagging by this point. So, I meet the "watch guru" and he begins to rattle on about all his brands. I was trying to just look at the watches, but this guy won't shut up.

The watch guy aside, this place had a dazzling selection of super cool watches. Stuff I have never seen before. Zeno, Glycine, Jean Marcel, Seiko Spring Drive, Tutima, and a bunch of other brands I would have to visit their web site to remember. Both the cigar and watch site below:

The thing that struck me was how darn big some of the Glycine and Zeno's were. They had the triple time zone Glycine and a 54mm Zeno that you could cook a pizza on. The Zeno glowed enough to make motorists flash their bright lights at you on the street.

I hung around as long as I could take the smoke. It was watch heaven. Now I'm gonna take a shower and see if I can get the cigar smell out my hair. :D

Tony, My eyes were watering in the place after 5 minutes. There were about a dozen guys in the lounge puffing away as it is cold here today. There was a low cloud of smoke in the room just hanging there. Cough, Cough, gag, gag... :D:D

Oscar, years ago I worked at a Goodyear Tire plant for 4 summers making tires . Being at the Cigar King brought back memories of the smelly tire plant. :D

The only thing better than a cigar store that sells watches would be a cigar store that sells watches AND collectable Zippos cool10.gif

Boy! am I ever with Mike on this one.  Cigar smoke makes one gag; cigs are okay/better/bearable, at least.

Too bad he found such a treasure trove in that environment.  Sounds like a place one would want to spend hours looking and buying those pieces.

Of course, back to my usual gripe, nothing for slender, petite moi. The size of a pizza is surely not for me; even a cupcake might be too, too.  Then, they'd be quartz or have gems everywhere.

However, other than that wretched odor, sounds like heaven.  :D

Glycine and ZENO are both great brands, but they do have this gawdawful penchant for making huge watches.......as I understand it, they are made specifically for guys at Big & Dumb that need to "compensate"!  Especially those that spent too much on Invicta's and now cannot afford a Mercedes!  subtlelaugh.gif

Ok... while sitting here, smoking a Romeo y Julieta and looking at my rather large... watch, I gotta weigh in on this one.  A cigar store that sells watches... hmmm...   the feelings that such a thought generates, well... guess I have an apropos avatar for this thread...

I've seen the Glycine 3 timezone at a local AD and it is humongous, too big imho.  But I do plan on getting a Zeno or two - and you can count on them being large...  not that there's anything wrong with that... ahem...

Believe it or not, this place had plenty of ladies watches. Yes, some had jewels plastered all over, but they also had some Zeno's and others that were auto's suitable for moi.

Up to just around 500 with a recent early 60's mint Boston and Maine Railroad Zippo off the 'Bay for a steal :)
I am waiting for Zippo to release the 2006 State Quarters set, they usually come out in Feb/March, only 500 sets released worldwide, I have all of them so far.

My collection is railroads, Pin-up girls (over 100), Americana, rock-n-roll groups, beer/liquor and musical instruments.  I just missed an Ampeg amplfiers Zippo last week, darn it!

Cheers,
Griff

Oh yeah, 2 Zippo watches (quartz, one with a Citizen movement, another with an ETA chronograph from the ill-fated zippowatches.com) and a Japan only Zippo with a pocket watch attached :P

...and this one too!

Cheers,
Griff

Cheapest Seiko I ever bought, 1976, mint in original box for a BIN of $25 :D

Trouble is, ever since I found it I have been searching for other watch company Zippos.  There are Rolex Zippos (an odd combo if you ask me,  a Rolex DuPont would make more sense), but they go for too much even beat up.

Cheers,
Griff
