May the Seiko 5 Military watch be worn taking a shower/bath? It only says water resistant and, online, one finds both yes & no answers. TYIA Last edited on Thu Mar 15th, 2007 06:59 pm by tny795 |

I have always been under the impression that, no matter what a watch's water resistance rating is, it is not a good idea to shower or bathe while wearing it. Something about soap damaging seals and/or hot water causing the metal to expand and possibly opening up a gap for water to enter into the case. Last edited on Thu Mar 15th, 2007 02:12 pm by Foster |

my son wore his in the shower. water condensed under the crystal and rusted the movement. A watch with a 200m rating and a screw down crown can do it. I just wouldn't advise it. |

I can see having a watch on showering at the beach to rinse the saltwater off but not wearing one in the shower or bath at home....so my question is how many members wear a watch to shower or bath and why? ![]() |

Assuming I have on a bracelet or waterproof strap, I give mine a quick water only rinse when I get in the shower - then take it off and set it outside before proceeding. |

I agree. Why would someone shower/take a bath with a watch on?? The whole purpose of showering is to get cleaned!! The wrist needs cleaning too. |
