Maybe you need to buy a couple of new watches to help cheer yourself up? Check out some of mine under 3T Watch Cyclee. I have a special discount for those having a bad day (add an additional 6% to the cost of the watch).;)

I kind of like what Ocean 7 is offering and the fact that they are a start up company that seems to really want to please its customers and potential customers by producing a unique dive watch.  I don't own one but I'm certainly interested.  Ocean 7 could arguably become a haven for those dissatisfied with that "other" dive watch company.

Hell, they might even hire JV to  come in nights to sweep the floors and clean the toilets for $6.00 per hour.

Seriously though, Ocean 7 looks like a potential winner in the dive watch category and I wish them success.

I think that their "design by committee" approach results in watches that look strikingly similar to high end models that some would like to have.  I am not impressed with thier "bang for the buck" pricing for a start-up, and I definitely would not want to risk that kind of money on the SW200 movement until they get the bugs worked out of it and it becomes a solid & accepted engine.

Our very own Steve loves his and vouches for their quality, but I believe his has an ETA 2824-2 in it.

That said, at $6 per hour, you are giving to much credence to J Vargas' ability to perform.......unless you are expecting him to write fictitious advertising copy.....his pathological need to lie may give him a "step up" there.

I think both Burger King and McDonald's rejected his application, commenting that after extensive research into his backgraound  and related claims, that he was not qualified...I'll bet that DOXA wishes that they had done the same!:D

Quite true O.E., a wait and see attitude is prudent.  I hate to flaunt my ignorance but I was of the impression that Ocean 7 was using ETA movements in all of their models.  What really impresses me about Ocean 7 is their desire to satisfy their clientle and their acceptance of criticism on their official forum.

And I have 2 words for J.V.:  Pizza delivery.

Yes my LM-1 has an ETA 2824-2 under the hood (ok, haven't looked myself, but).  It has been running right around +1sec/day.  The LM-3 will prob have the SW-200; supposedly, the first batch of LM-2s will have the ETA.

That being said, the latest info is...  wait for it... the case for the LM-3 is made in China.  Ok, now, go ahead...  mistake.gif

Well, outsourcing is commonplace in manufacturing so I guess that I'm not surprised.  If the steel, machining and finishing are to original specs then it would be of no matter to me who does the work.  If we go beyond manufacturing the case and assembly then I probably will feel differently.

There was a lively discussion last night in the Ocean7 chat regarding recent Doxa events, disclosure of manufacturing sources etc.  To which Mitch, the owner of Ocean7, replied, he had no problem with detailing that info and thats when he indicated the case for the LM-3 is being machined in China.  He also mentioned the ceramic cases for the LM-4 and LM-5 are being manufactured in Korea.  Since they will be using swiss movements, casing them and inspecting them in Switzerland,  they qualify for the Swiss Made caveat. hand6.gif

He is heading to Basel this week to also visit with the 'integrator' and would have updated release dates for the LM-2 and LM-3 after that. watch2.gif

I have absolutely no problem with Asian manufacturing of cases, etc.  Fit & finish is all I am concerned about....if it is good, it is good, regardless of where it is manufactured.

I don't mind where the parts are made either as long as there quality parts. I would refuse a stamped case though, even if it was hand finished afterwards. As far as ocean7 being a open forum, well from experiance there, its a milder form of Doxa. if you think a design sucks or state a problem with any portion of the watch, the post gets deleted, or at the very least you get slammed by diehard ocean7 people. That doesn't happen at this forum.opinions are met with opinions and no deleting or slamming unless its from someone from the wus forum with a personal problem. I also don't like someone telling the buyers they can't sell there watches for 6 months or for less than retail.

I will not buy a watch with those type of heavy handed conditions.

I agree that outsourced parts must be absolutely loyal to original specs.

I wasn't aware that Ocean 7 was imposing a no resale clause on WUS.

I actually posted a thread in the O7 forum wanting to know what they were about. Most of the responses were pretty civil and got a nice reply from Mitch himself. There are some brand forums where they are run like the neighborhood bar though. No newbies and you have to have 500 posts under your belt before stopping by.
