Hi

I just joined the site today, didn't know about it till now!

I've got a nice watch I'm selling on another site. I would like to put it on here, but without my 50 post minimum I realise that I can't.

I have many references; several watch deals in the last few weeks (I'm new to the whole watch thing) but also 5 years of ebay feedback, 300+ transactions @100%.

If anyone is interested in it, let me know. I might just have the watch you have been waiting for.

Thanks
fbk

OK, I'll tell him you told me! ;)

Seriously, I read that a mod can grant selling priviledges. I was hoping one would read this.

If nothing else I'll get my 50 posts up this way anyway

The purpose of the 50 posts, and/or referal from someone at 3T who knows you, is to make sure that the watches listed on the watch cycle sales area are from members whom we all know and regularly visit the forum.

So what is the purpose of the following comment in the "rules" area:

...unless approved otherwise through one of the admins who will vouch for the seller.

I'm not going to make 50 posts just so that I can sell a watch, that proves nothing. I'd rather have someone vouch for me based on previous experience, which is what I asked.

No problem though, I'll just sell it elsewhere where I've already got references. Was just that I saw a member here saying they wanted the particular watch I am selling, I thought it was polite not to link to the ad I've got elsewhere, but they'll find it if they really want it.

Thanks anyway.

Hi again

I didnt mean to put anyones nose out of joint. I fully comprehend (and appreciate the reasons for) the rules pertaining to someone establishing a reputation here before being allowed to sell/trade. I thought that would have been apparent from my first post, at least that was my intention. I would never expect anyone to do a deal with someone who joined that day as a member of an online community; I wouldnt do that either.

The point of my first post was to make it clear that:

a) I had read and understood the rules
b) I was a reputable seller with prior history
c)I was hoping that someone with whom I had previously dealt with would recognise me
d) I respected the fact that I should introduce myself rather than say "psst, wanna buy a watch?".

I'm not going to PM someone when I am a brand new member! I thought I was doing the right thing by introducing myself publicly. Apparently not. Sorry about that.

Anyway, hopefully this message has not been lost in translation. I have a nice Doxa watch for sale. It is advertised elsewhere, and I have many prior positive references. If I can't advertise it here, thats fine. Like I said, the right buyer will find it eventually anyway.

Regards
fbk

After reading this thread, it seems your sole reason for coming to 3T was to find another avenue for selling your watch. That's a shame. We have some great people on this forum and incredible knowledge base.

A little participation is all we ask so we can get to know you and you us. If 50 posts is too much, well you read the rules. Yet, your very first post was an attempt to circumvent them.

Circumvent the rules??

The rules say "make 50 posts or get someone to vouch for you". I came here and publicly introduced myself and asked to be vouched for!!!

Circumventing the rules would have been more like having a post count of zero and PMing a member saying "hey wanna buy my watch", as it was suggested I should have done.

I thought I was doing the right thing. I'm a decent guy, with plenty of references,  and thought I might have been doing someone a favour.

I should never have bothered. You all enjoy your site.

For a decent guy you seem dead set against respecting this forums rules which are designed to protect it members and not to inconvenience you. And that's what it is... an inconvenience!

You seem to want to move Doxa... well fine, post, contribute and do so. Your 3 week tenure at WUS along with 11 posts all relating to watch sales do not an impressive history make....

This thread could go on long enough and you could easily have 50 posts in no time. Apparetnly something is not to your liking, be it the rules or site... That is your perrogative.

on your 1st post, I asked you to contact the owner, not sell him a watch. You could have joined in on threads,  or shared a watch you own, but instead your sole purpose was to sell watches. your only purpose on wus was watch selling also.

That was funny, O. *LOL*

FBK, I suggest that you should stick on selling your watches on EBAY if you think that you cannot contribute on this forum. The purpose of this site is for the watch enthusiasts to learn and share their knowledge about watches.

Goodluck!!!

Dang it guys, I have been here for awhile now.  Although I visit the site almost everyday but still have less than 50 posts.  :?  toon1.gif

I don't post much and I rather read since most members here are at much higher level of knowledge on watches than me.

I don't know what's the big deal.  All I had to do was email Oscar and asked his permission.  That easy, on the otherhand, I don't sell watches regularly either...

Yeah!!

hinky: The right way to spell hinkie. :)
Something that is out of whack, just a bit off, wrong, confused, suspect.
Example: His directions were a bit hinky, no? That milk taste hinky to you?

Hmmm...

"Mr. Hinky (Hinkie) Dink" is part of a phrase in Devo's song Through Being Cool.

Now, it makes more sense to me! :D:)

Interesting to read these follow up comments.

I didnt set out to annoy anyone, my mistake was not spending a few days seeing what this forum was about before trying to "hawk" a watch in a manner deemed as "hinky". My apologies.

The first thing I saw when I went to the sales forum was that you need a posting history *OR* get a mod to vouch for you. This imples that you dont HAVE to have lots of posts as long as you could establish that you were a honest person with a good reputation.

I would have thought that a 5 year history on ebay and a few other recent references (all from guys who ARE regular members of other watch forums and quite possibly this one too) would have been sufficient.

For what its worth, I have only recently got the watch "bug". I know I don't need to explain that you have to own and wear a watch to decide if its for you or not... the few that I've bought I've decided were not for me, so I wanted to move them on, at a small loss. Thats the price you pay for being able to "try out" various watches, but it has helped me to work out what I do want.

I thought I was just doing what everyone else seems to do - buy, swap, and sell - in either the search for their perfect watch or just to experience the pleasure of wearing a different one all the time. I mistakenly assumed that this was the place to do it, but from the welcome I received, apparently not. Its a shame because I would have been happy to share my experiences of different watches I've owned, in hindsight I should have done that first before saying I had one to sell.

I'm sorry if you felt that I'd stormed into your private forum trying to do anything underhand, and I accept that you prefer to deal with people who've established themselves as one of "the gang" you can trust and view with suspicion those who are not. Like I said, I'll just sell it elsewhere, and I know the eventual buyer will be just as happy as every single other person I've ever dealt with has been.

Precisely!!

Up to this point your tone has been somewhat dismissive of 3T. If you want to join in and shoot the $hit, please feel free to do so. This is not "our site" or a "private site". If you don't want to "bother', then don't "bother".

You are more than welcome to join in and show us your watches, kids, cars or whatever, but clearly, your sole purpose for visiting 3T is for another arena to sell watches.
