I have a Canon powershot SD 300 i use, and I cant get any pics like you guys? Give me some tips? Or is it just my camera? I dont use a tripod, Im not sure what my settings are on? I dont use any lighting tricks? Help Thanks Hucky |

Since you have a cannon this freeware may be helpful. I have a Sony and WinXP reads and dose this for me. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/canoncam.html I also use this due to being to cheep to buy a photo payware tool like photoshop. LOL :D I use MS Paint for cropping pix only and that tool for sharpening and sizing the pix. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/irfan.html I don't use a trypod either. I just practice allot and about 1 in 10 pix comes out half way decent LOL :D I am loosy at taking pix but just like to try so I can share my treasures. :cool: ;) |

I used that very same camera for quite some time Hucky. First off dudes...get a tripod. It really will make a big difference. With the Canon I used the macro setting occassionally and always used the timer so I could clear out and get out of any reflections. Natural light works best and if you diffuse it with a lightbox or sheet it works great!! |

I find that taking pics outside using the natural sunlight turns out pretty good. It is tough to get good lighting inside unless you diffuse the light like what was mentioned. Also, some cameras take good close-up pics of watches and some just do not. I have one camera that will just not take good pics of watches. It does take some practice, and only a small percentage of the pictures turn out just right. I recommend getting a light tent for inside pics. You can buy one that is decent at Wal-Mart for about $50. I haven't used a Tripod, but it would probably be fun to play around with one. (A couple of my best pics. I have imported about 40 Blue Belly (Tree Swifts into my yard) and 12 Aligaotr lizards, this is a 2nd generation blue belly baby 2 months old |

Hucky...I'm not sure the camera makes all that much difference...I am still using a 3-year old Casio point & shoot 4.0mp QV-R40. The only thing I know how to do is turn the flash of, turn the macro on, and set the 2-second timer. The biggest help I had was a $7 mini-tripod!!! But then, I don't win the pic of the week much, either!!!  |

The outdoor shooting has made a big difference, all those were without a tripod, being a Welder I have a steady hand, but im gonna get a tripod soon. Thanks for the tips men. Appreciated, look for some great shots soon Hucky |

Hey Hucky, here's a few tips for what they are worth: If are shooting outdoors try not to photograph in direct sun light. Direct sunlight blows out the image with hot highlights and grainy shadows. Try to shoot on overcast days or late in the after noon just after the sun drops below the horizon, this will give you a softer ambient light. If you want to shoot indoors, check out the "bay" for complete kits containing tabletop light tent and photo light setup. You can find them priced very reasonably and get great results. Cheers. :D |

Believe it or not, I never use a tripod to shoot my watches. I'm always manuvering around to get the best angle for a shot and the tripod is too restrictive. I do have very steady hands though. I do use a tripod when I'm shooting higher quality shots where I need resolution higher than 72 dpi for the web. Hey Hucky, if those lizards taste like chicken, sounds like they need a little hot sauce and blue cheese to dip them in. Up north here we call them Buffalo Wings. |

Lizard I have never eaten? Those little guys are my pets, they roam free and get used to me and the wife, they roam my front yard and back yard, I buy 2000 crickets med and small at a time and set them loose 2 x a month for food, the lizards just hang out when you walk by them they almost let me pick them up. I rescued them from a field in Huntington Beach where a new housing tract was going to go. Dont eat my lizardssmile25.gif |
