I've got the Invicta and worn CJ's TT1 and must agree with Chris. The Oris  is head and shoulders above the Scooby. The Oris diver's kinda slip under the radar...

While the Oris is nice, I am not so quick to say "miles aboves."   Maybe dollars above.  Then again, I don't buy $800 denim jeans. I like my Levis at $30.

MSRP has a strong effect on perception, always has. I would certainly not buckle in the presence of an Oris whilst wearing my Scooby. In fact, I would take a perverse pleasure in my 300m Swiss ETA diver.  The Oris is a touch to designer-watch-like for my tastes.

Having worn both watches I'll tell you what I know.  Of course, just my opinion.

Currently the TT1 divers are using modifed SW200 movements while older models had a modified ETA. So, in a manner of speaking it is a tweaked ETA... at least CJ's is. I can also tell you it is probably his most accurate watch and he can attest to that. And we are dorks who measure these things with our dorky atomic clocks!! I can't comment on the watch with the tweaked SW200 as I haven't seen or worn one.

The case work is phenomenal. The fit and finish is above reproach and is perfect in every way. Very cury and kinda sexy with sweet lugs and the case sort of thrusts the dial to the fore. Dial work is also top knotch.

The bezel is silky smooth and each click locks perfectly into place. It really is impressive and it mindless operation is very precise and really great.

I am not banging on the Scooby. I have one and I wear it quite often and do enjoy it. However, I do know the overal build quality of the watch is not as refined and well executed as the Oris. My bezel is a stiff mother. That is not to say I do not appreciate the look of the watch and it heavy duty specs. Having seen pix with the case back off I know we have a plastic movement holder (pet peeve). See more here:http://www.timetechtalk.com/view_topic.php?id=3529&forum_id=1&highlight=invicta+scuba

It is not all smoke and mirrors and there are real resons why the two differ in price. Both are great deals at therir respective "street" prices.

I'm not sure what is wrong with the Oris bezel in your eyes and hope you'll tell us more.  We all have our individual tastes.CJ's has taken a pounding and still looks great.

Plastic retainers are brilliant, they offer NO handicap other than possibly melting should I get too close to the sun. With regard to the bezel, I simply don't like the teeth....it's a bit generic and not quite as interesting IMHO as the Scooby cut. The case work on the Oris however superior, is also a bit curvy for my taste. So I thank invicta for not being tooo brilliant in their thievery as I find the Scooby to be just right.   I have yet to hold an Oris, I do know that I have owned several Omegas, a Rolex Datejust etc and have come to the conclusion that anything over $500 for many of these Swiss ETA watches is borderline abuse. My Seiko 6R15 had a superior case and design than my Datejust ZZZZZZZ.

It's a personal choice, I refuse to literally "buy" into it.  I have seen too many brilliant offerings at the sub $500 dollar level to justify anything north of that amount. My days of spending $3600 on an Omega Seamaster Chrono are over.  I was  that 16 year old watch nut who saved up for weeks to buy my first Speedmaster back in 1985. While certainly not thrifty, it would take more than a signed rotor and a regulated ETA not quite COSC to get me back into the game.

I am certain the Oris is stellar, I simply don't require my watch to do anything other than be base ETA accurate and survive depths of one meter.  I definitely wont pay $500 more for an Oris TT when I have a Scooby at $250.

Ah man, I didn't mean to start a pissing match here - I honestly did not even see the Scooby post (check the time stamp, its probably seconds apart) before I commented on the Oris, which was based on my own experience with a TT1 Titan 1000m I own.  I've never held the Invicta in my hands so I cannot comment on it, but I do feel that the Oris is a seriously underrated diver that is well worth its asking price.  I'd put its quality right up there with Omega (never had a Rolex, so I cannot compare), definitely on par with a Planet Ocean, and above that of the less substantial feeling SMP (I can't believe I am saying that!).  And the Oris is titanium to boot, and I usually HATE titanium watches because they are too light, but the Oris is light and manages to also feel solid.  As for the bezel on the TT1, I like it just fine - I find it is definitely superior in both click feel and grip to the more affordable tier of divers like the Sumo, Seastar 1000, or Oceanaire (all of which I own and enjoy very much).
