So you all know the story, right? "Honey I bought this watch by mistake... really... isn't it cool?" face4.gif

Well that's the fact of the matter here 3T! Just before leaving for a lovely dinner with my lovely wife Wednesday evening (our 9th anniversary), I placed what I thought was a nonsensical bid on the Bay on this watch with MacArthur's, the well known German eBay vendor. Imagine my surprise at winning!! And imagine my surprise at receiving the watch this morning from Germany in basically a day and 1/2!!Thumbsup3.gif

This is a Revue Thommen Military Observer B-Uhr which is a "re-issue" of the 40's style Observer. I had been eying fliegers but remained noncommittal until this fell into my lap. Now I know what it is to be Hucky as this watch is 55mm WITHOUT crown. I've included a picture next to the big black Russian I wore today for comparison purposes. This watch has all the right bits with ETA 2824 movement, sapphire crystal and excellent fit and finish. the lugs are 26mm and the supplied RT strap and deployant are a combo I need to strap on the last hole available! Nice buttery strap and I have something else in mind too.

There's only one problem... I am not certain I should keep this so you'll need to excuse the protective plastic in the following pix. I never thought I would say this but THIS WATCH MIGHT BE TOO BIG!!mistake.gif What says you 3T brethren? I've included a wrist shot and I am not bashful about going Flava-Flave style with my Vixa or Alpina but this thing is simply monstrous. I ask humbly to hear your opinions... can a man with a 7.25 wrist wear 55mm?? Has my hero worship of Hucky taken a disturbing turn? subtlelaugh.gif I thank you in advance for your counsel.:D

Congrats on the grand find Paxman. Yes... this watch may send Hucky into a severe case of "Dial Envy", as I know for a fact, he wanted to be the first man with a watch visible from space. subtlelaugh.gif

hehehehehe I thought that was Ken's apartment. :D

Mark that don't look to bad. About the same size wrist and i wear a few 48mm fine but it depends on how well it sits on the wrist and if it shifts very much uncomfortably.

But it looks good. ;)

I'd like to see a wider angle wrist shot to get a bit more perspective.  The watch looks nice from what I've seen.  Congratulations!

Holy Crap! Hucky? Is that you in disguise?subtlelaugh.gif Oh, wait, that is you Pax, isn't it?:D It's a great looking watch Pax, but at first look my initial thought was 'it's as big as a dinner plate'. In the end it's up to how comfortable you feel with it. I know I couldn't ever be comfortable wearing something that big, but you're not me. If you like it, don't let any of us dissuade you Brother.

I've got that black russian and it is about as big as I can go without looking like the madhatter. That Revue Thommen dwarfs it. But it is a cool looking watch . It would be too big for my scrawny wrist though

Lately anything under a 44 look small to me on my puny 6 1/2 inch wrist but that one I think is just a little oversized for me. :D

Ill bet you could use the back for a mirror to flash sunlight reflection signals if you are ever lost in the woods.

Beautiful watch though.  Looks OK on you in your pics.

I think it's fine too.  You may not want to wear it everywhere, but certainly there are ocassions where you'd be good to go with a bigger watch.

Thanks for the enabling, 3T. thankyou.gif This puppy sits nice on the wrist... all the wrist, and is dead on after 24 on the winder. Needless to say, all protective plastic has been removed and I intend to enjoy this humongous flieger.

Dang that is big!
I think it looks fine on your wrist though Pax, and if you like it then that is all that counts hand6.gif

I get the "clock on the wrist" comments at work whenever I wear my Marina Militare...

Cheers,
Griff
