All seafarers should have one! And I'm glad I grabbed this model before they become too scarce. I'm an ex Coast Guardsman 4 yrs  and 4 yrs as a Merchant Mariner as well and I've always wanted a SMP. Purchased it at an AD because I don't see myself selling or trading it any time soon. I'm not afraid to say I'm thrilled to own this jewel!!

Big congrats, Norman. I would venture to say that model Seamaster (2255.80 I think) is my favorite.  The dial is a beautiful blue and the bezel sparkles!!. Enjoy that beauty!

and unfortunately I believe that one is discontinued as well..I think the titanium version is the only one left. And Paxman, it is the 2255.80.

There's a small mark on the back, looks like the earth with the Omega symbol engraved in it....you can see it under the seamonster (on the lower rim). I think it's an anti counterfit mark. Maybe someone here can verify its purpose and how long they've been adding that.

Thanks everyone!

It is discontinued and it's not looking like used prices are dropping much. Also, the mark on the back you're referring to is also on mine. It is an anti counterfeit engraving that they've been doing since, I believe, '06 or '07. Once again, enjoy and wear it in good health.

I'm not a 100% certain, but I believe that '08 was the last year they were featured in the catalog and when it was announced that they'd be discontinued for the '09 line up. Don't quote me on this because I might be off the mark by about a half a year or so. Also, I might be off the mark a bit on the anti counterfeiting mark. The '06 I have is the first time I saw it and was told that it was a fairly recent measure taken by Omega. It may have started in '05 and just really started to be seen in '06.

Well it's almost a very nice Seamaster. First off, this was the last one in the twin cities area and it was their display. The chrono cert. and pictogram card were missing and it took them a few days but they eventually found the items. Then I noticed the red dot seal was missing and there was a odd problem with the bezel. When you depressed one side of the bezel it would flex and snap as if wasn't seated in place properly. Anyway, the store said don't worry about it we have one in Wisconsin and one in Iowa that we will have sent here and I can examine both and pick one of those when they arrive on Wednesday. They said to keep this one until they arrive. Kind of a hassle but they are being more than accomadating over the matter, of course I'm paying jewlery store sale price for it so they ought to be.;)

CONGRATS on a beauty !!!The stamp on the back started with the 07 models .... I bought 2  2006 Seamaster's that did not have the stamp .... and then I bought a 2007 2255.80 like yours from Jomashop that had it .... I emailed Omega and was told it was an antipiracing measure ....  A beautiful watch that is built like a tank .... all the Seamasters I bought were very accurate
