just "John Rambo" is the inspiration... that guy sold a lot of snakes that he caught in Thailand to pay for the Panerai he was wearing, he couldn't even afford to buy a knife in the movie, he had to make one from a piece of scrap metal, but he had a nice timepiece. Maybe it was just a Marina Militare he bought off the forums.

Very nice Steve... I've been considering a homage Anonimo or PAM 243 Submersible...

cool. thanks guys. I bought a 2nd dial and a set of gold hands. I was considering painting the second dial all black and using the gold hands.

that looks real nice Phil. I have a Tan leather Heroic18 strap that I can use on mine, but I need to find a high quality 24mm PVD screw-in buckle first... I am picky!

Thanks... I found my buckle at pana****. The picture shows a silver screw but mine was black.

Steve...Congratulations on the Marina Militare.  Looks fantastic in PVD!!  Excellent looking piece.ThumbsUp02.gif

I recently picked up a Boschett Reef Ranger (Blue without date magnification)...great timepiece...very happy with it and I have been considering a Pan**** homage timepiece recently and have been considering some of the options out there including a Marina Militare, Joa, Destro, IWI, etc....

Are you happy with the overall quality of this piece in person and would you mind sharing where you got it and for how much?

Thanks,

Chris

ok so I bought this one thinking I would mess with it. I found out I should leave the watchmaking skills to those with experience... but this story has a happy ending...

a few weeks after the destruction of my watch, I started to sand the case with 1000 grit waterproof sandpaper and I am very happy with the results, it looks just like my 1944 M1 Carbine rifle barrel. I also submerged the case in water for 24 hours and no water got into the case, just wanted to test that.

now I have shipped the case and dial off to Jeff The Watch Dude and he is going to put in a new movement, gold hands, and the dial back in for me. I am going to wear this one on a vintage brown strap.

I will post the new watch when it returns. - steve

WOW Steve that looks like my desk after I tried to do the same thingcrap.gif

I came to the quick conclusion that I do not have the patience or physical skills to take apart a watch movement and put it back together again, leave it to the pros!!

I recently acquired 5 running Hamilton 917 and one 23 Jewel Hamilton 945 movement...they will be off to my watch mod guy in Jersey tomorrow to see what we can come up with.
