I actually got this with the Amphibia the other day, but didn't have time to mess with it. It is a gorgeous watch. Much better looking in person than in my poor attempt at a quick photo today. It came with an "ironing board" strap. So, that came off right away and was replaced with a nice DeBeer Baby Croc. It's an eighteen jewel, hand wind movement in a polished case about 43mm in size. Perfect for me. Nice onion crown winds the watch. I haven't tried timing it yet or anything. The movement is moderatly decorated much like the Junkers models. Very nice. The watch comes off like it costs a heck of a lot more than it does. There is some nice detail on the dial that you can barely make out in my photo. I got the only one in the series that has a luminescent dial. The others (there are 5 other models) all have applied numbers. The lumn on the hands is useless. So, I should have gotten the applied numbers. The blue on white dial is a knockout. And, the gold plated models are drop-dead-gorgeous. REALLY nice. The series is called the Buran Siberia. Or, is it Bypah? I will never figure out all of the Russian brands and names. ![]() ]Last edited on Fri Mar 31st, 2006 05:30 pm by mcwright |

Mike: I don't know how to read Cyrillic, but I did find this page: http://www.ukindia.com/zip/zru1.htm. That page tells me--after some decoding--that you do indeed have a Buran.

THANKS! You are 50 steps ahead of me. I got this from a German site in all German. I did my best to translate and all went well. On a couple of sites they list it as a Buran Siberia. But, I have seen it as Bypah too. The dial reads BYPAH. The watch is WAY nicer than I ever expected it would be. I wish I could have gotten a nicer picture. It has a curved crystal and it picks up reflections from everything. Last edited on Sat Apr 1st, 2006 02:27 am by mcwright |
