Received this nice watch today.  As always, excellent service from Marc at Island Watch.  :) Highly recommended retailer!

Why do I like Orient watches?  Where else can you get a 42mm stainless steel automatic with a beautiful solid link bracelet for under $200.00.  And check this out: I opened the back to check the movement, and it has a nice stainless steel spacer holding the movement - no plastic.

The day pointer at 6:00 is also cool.  You can choose to have either a white arrow on black background or a red arrow on white background when you adjust the date with the button at 2:00

Dan:)

I like them the more I learn.  Where can you find Orient Star line of watches for sale?  Great sight and info on the Orients, thanks.

I've never ordered from them so I can't vouch.  However it is recommended on the Seiko forum which is where I learned about it.

I have ordered from Higuchi, and the service was great.  (See deidler's post for URL.)  They carry more than just what's shown on their site, so if you find an Orient Star anywhere on the web you can request a quote for that model number and they'll let you know if it's available, and the price.

Higuchi is a good source. When I last spoke with Orient aboutthe Star line, they basically told me they have no plans to export to the US. Their view is that Americans will not pay such high $$$ values for Japanese watches (ie, Seiko spring drive barely available in the US) I think they're correct.
