This morning, during the 5 A.M. hour(CST), my newest son Hayden was born. He arrived in this world 18 days early and weighing in at 6lbs 3oz and measuring 19 1/2 inches long. It was a relatively short labor once the ball got rolling, he arrived without a whimper and 19 days early. Both mother and baby are doing well and in the recovery room at this time. At the time of this posting I am scheduled to head home on leave(albeit earlier than planned) by the 22nd. Also arriving today(7 days late) was a package from my Stepmom, Brother and Sister. In this package was 2 boxes of Gispert Robusto's. Strange how things happen like that:D.

Congrats Murph!  I will have to smoke a stogie in your sons honor.  May he have good health.  As always, stay safe!

Scott, Skip and Pax, Thanks Guys. I appreciate the well wishes and yes, I am pretty excited. I'm actually a lot more excited than I thought I'd be. This is not my first kid, but is her first. I also had no idea that there was 2 boxes of cigars headed for me. They were a surprise from that part of the family. The real funny thing to me is that the package has actually been here for a week or more, but kept getting sent to the wrong unit and finally makes it to me today of all days.

Thanks Tony. I'm really looking forward to just being able to kiss my wife and hold my son. Especially, as things have been kinda crazy here the last week or so. I could use some good decompression.

Congrats Murph, and best wishes to mommy too! cool10.gif I'm so glad to hear that you'll be able to make it home soon to see your newest son, missing your family (especially new arrivals) has to be one of the most difficult part of life for those of you serving our country.hand6.gif

Thanks. It can be difficult at times, but I try to remember that those who came before me had it worse. Back in the 90s, when I was an Active Duty Soldier, I could make a collect call home pretty regular or write a letter, but now I just get on my computer and send an email or IM or even use my computer as a phone using a service like SKYPE or YahooMessenger. I don't have to make collect calls anymore. But when guys like Ken and Tusk were serving, it was the mail or M.A.R.S. station and that was it. When my Grandfathers served(WWII), it was the mail and that's it, and it wasn't even that consistent. So I think I have it pretty good when it comes to communication with the family, which makes a big difference with missing them.

CONGRATS MURPHwoohoo.gif.  Have a safe trip Home and I will smoke a stogie in celebration.  There is no feeling in the world like the birth of a child.

Makes our watch collecting seem trivial and stupid. Nice pick-up.
