OPEC sells oil for $136.00 a barrel. OPEC nations buy U.S. grain at $7.00 a bushel. Solution: Sell grain for $136.00 a bushel. Can't buy it? Tough! Eat your oil! Ought to go well with a nice thick grilled fillet of camel ass!!! |

If we all switched to diesel vehicles in the US we would save $33 billion a year. |

Gotta agree...don't want this to turn into a big political discussion though as it's too easy to upset people...that said, I also agree with the diesel statement....if we switched to diesel, it would be produced in much higher quantities and then the low production volume surcharge would disappear...GM kinda destroyed the diesel market back in the 70/80 with the POS engine they tried to convert from gas to diesel. As to fuel prices, when the silver/gold market got out of hand back in the 1970's (thank you Hunt brothers)...hedge funds were forbidden to speculate in those commodities and the price plummeted back to what the market really was. They need to do that with hedge funds/oil today! There really is no supply problem...but we still need to tap are own oil reservoirs (anywhere they are) and build more refineries (another 100 nuke power plants wouldn't hurt either) in order to control our own economic destiny. |

We get more oil from Canada or Mexico than anywhere in the Mid-East. Only one (Saudi Arabia) in the top five countries that supply our oil is Middle-Eastern. Furthermore increased domestic drilling is not going to help lower the cost of your gasoline. Projected savings at the pump with successful additional drilling is $0.02 a gallon. This savings would be effective roughly in the year 2025. Nuke is a decent proposal and worth serious consideration. Carter seems more like a genius all the time. And this (Gets fueled once a year whether it needs it or not): ![]() And finally this (Corn Dogs as alternative fuel): ![]() Both are beneficial to the soul as well as the body. Alas neither are very good for getting groceries home. |

Would love to see any truly reliable economic data that says the law of supply and demand does not apply to oil. Right now the demand side, as seen by the commodities speculators, seems to be working quite well...and I assume when you say that Carter is starting to look like a genius, you are talking about Billy Carter?:D |

If we get our own oil who cares what happens in the rest of the world? I think if we started sinking some new wells NOW and started building new refineries you would see a drop in the price of crude now. We also are sitting on top of the worlds largest coal reserve..ever hear of coal gasification? The pentagon already has coal gasification plants built to fuel our military in a crisis. Imagine if the money we send to other countries were to stay in the US what our economy would be like. It would be BOOMING. DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW! Just my 2 cents. |
