39 years ago today Apollo 11 lifted off to go to the moon.  On july 20 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon.    It is said that the space craft had the computing power of a digital watch of today.  Also, all the computers in mission control had the power of 1 laptop of today.  Realizing this make me truly amazed of our accomplishment.  The objective and accomplishment of putting a man on the moon is the TRUE  spirit of what America is all about.  When we put our minds to it, we can do anything.

One of my earliest memories as a 4 year old. I remember my mother telling me this would be history and I should try to remember this and pass it on to my children. Truly a remarkable feat and one which still blows my mind!!:D

Yes, they say it took over 400,000 people to pull it off making models from cardboard and popsicle sticks and slide rules to figure it all out.  Amazing.

I can think of quite a few Americans, and others, I'd like to send to the moon.  Alice Cramden must be getting lonely up there all by herself.

The Discovery channel has been running the past few weeks a documentary on the first fly-by and landings, very cool stuff. I remember where I was, and my feelings on it all when it happened.

It has pissed me off all these years that we have`nt put forth the same drive & desire to keep going after the last Moon landing. Exploration is in our blood, it has shaped our world to this moment.

Hopefully the spirit will be awaken soon by our younger generation. I see some signs of that old anti-establishment brewing around for changes.
