I was looking thru my photobucket pics and would like to share some pics taken from my old camera PANASONIC FZ20. It has an optical zoom of 12X and a digital zoom of 4X which is to say in normal 35mm film camera, it has up 420mm zoom and a further digital enhanced zoom totalling an AWESOME of 1680mm!!! And the above mentioned is w/o lens or filter added just the prosumer camera itself! And featuring also is its awesome IS(Image stabilization)! Below are pics taken by me from a hill near my house. All were taken hand held and a slight wind condition. 0X zoom:  Full 12X optical zoom:  A Further 4X digital zoom which is equivalent to 48X zoom, it is digital zoom and there is a slight lost in resolution but you notice something? You can actually see the last 4 digits of the truck "7213"!!!:  So what do you think of the FZ20's POWER of ZOOM???? AWESOME?!?!? Maybe there is no hill there in Ohio?!?! Or maybe the cam works better with greek atmosphere?!?! Oscar, btw, those were shot with AUTO mode! In broad daylight, all you have to do is keep your hands steady and shoot! Can you imagine those shots were taken if I had my tripod with me?! O.A. Check your PM Gregger.;) Yes Eddy you are right, but macro close up lens magnifies further of what any camera is capable of. It is like putting a magnifying glass in front of your camera. :)

That's true...if you have subject matter that tiny or that detailed...Surely, however, that is over kill, and quite unecessary for the Panasonic doing watch photos..... which was my point.

Eddy I agree with you. But if one is having just ONE camera for all and have this Panasonic FZ20, one can get the BEST out of it by getting some accessories. Yes the FZ20 itself is quite awesome on its own w/o accessories, but with accessories, it can do MORE! For macro pics, it is good to have macro lens, and not only for watch pics. By using macro close up lens, you can take other pics like bigs, insects, tiny detais of non moving object....etc. Below is another example of my ex-camera FZ20 with macro close up lens, it is definitely not a WATCH! LOL!!!!  And for those who have the FZ20, you GOTTA try shooting the MOON! You do not need any add on!!! Look:

We're in violent agreement! Somebody lock this thread!!:D:);) The Panasonic is the most versatile digicam I have used...I also have the Nikon D-100 and a Fuji S2Pro with all the Nikon lenses and accessories ( for wildlife photograpy )..yet when I want to do a quick, pro looking job, I often grab my Z20 Last edited on Fri Feb 10th, 2006 12:35 pm by Eddyboy |

AGREED!!! I missed the FZ20's easy features as a prosumer camera. I am having a DSLR and I am not looking back but I have to live with changing lenses often!!! Well maybe one day I will get a FZ30 or Fuji9500.
