Is it true that if someone loses their voice due to mad cow disease they also can't email, post on forums or write mind numbing goofiness for others to read?

Just curious. It's a "medical" thing I assume.

Probably should be called "Mad Bull Disease" for the particular individual  that this afflicted!

Of course the insertion of the term "Bull" would be really applicable in SO many instances in this case!

I think The Gap actually does background/criminal checks on prospective new hires, so..........

Don't see how in da world he would ever pass that tough scrutiny!

Unlike some friggin outfits which hire via the "You want us to hire WHO?" system offerred to their vendors.

Of course they could have a REALLY GOOD security system for guarding their inventory I assume!

french frogs do not say ribbit.  they say.  je capitule.....  that is how you can identify a try french frog.  frogs that just say ribbit are usa frogs.  the usa frogs picked up the saying ribbit during wwII when they were found carrying the rivets to build the ships and planes and so on.  they did they duty.

You seriously need a spread sheet to monitor the pricing that slop throws out on their watches "on sale"!

Buying a watch from them is like spinning the roulette wheel!

You can rationalize that you wanted the particular watch anyway, and it was $200 more at full retail, BUT................

.......you just have to have a cold chill run up your spine when you see the same "will sell out in the preview!" watch a month later and it is discounted another $100!

I guess their philosophy is that most buyers are there one time and probably won't be watching regularly. Or maybe their "philosophy" is what we suspected all along.................

I watch the previews MUTED and NEVER look at the price because I know that at some point during show the price will drop..........wait a month or for the next "big" day, and it gets lower.

Wait until Christmas and you get it for $59.99 with Value Pay! rah!  I feel for the poor slobs who won't learn this until they've been royally screwed.  I've reached the point where I even doubt the retail price they show.

How different it seemed when that vendor first appeared on the scene........who would have thought?

Wonder if that one splendid brand is still being given to stars and entertainers in their gift bags.  I believe your final sentence is the true one.

A month after the last Hollywood awards extravaganza Nvicta watches started showing up on some of the best "street" folks walking the alleys off Rodeo Drive!

It did not appear that the true"value" of the gifted timepieces was being felt!

Luckily most of the "street" individuals were out of free minutes on their Blackberries when the watch stopped working and it needed repairs. Gawd knows how they would have responded to the ever famous Customer Service presented when attempting to contact this illusive outfit.

Sir--You have a certain way with words that boggles the mind.   value, victa--value, victa--well, at least it rhymes.

Perhaps 1.  Victa's won't be freely given any more.    2.  is there REALLY a CS, or is it just a recording from some garage?

They've overplayed their hand and should fold up their tents and silently depart the scene.  BUT, what happens to their best friend in MN--has a plethora of names, I've heard/read.

BTW:  some chick on ShopAtHome did a 2 hr. show of Activa......told the viewing audience "they were made by Invicta--you all know THAT name--for those of us who cannot afford the thousands to get the real McCoy!"  The most expensive piece was $23!  And, to quote again, "it's just so cute, isn't it?"

arf-bay

Want horological knowledge, do you?  Here goes:  host of show told viewers that he'd been taught by the experts all about watches so he could do the shows.  And, "here was some exciting news he could pass on.

"When the part that goes around your wrist is made of leather or some material, it is called a strap.  If it is made of metal, it is called a bracelet.  I didn't know that, did you?"

Now, how do you like that for real horological knowledge?  I all but parc-ed my pants!  Sadly, you're right about the influx of money to the bank.  Those who admire him and think him hot stuff (along with CG, et al) make excuses for everything.

TT, quite frankly, was my tutor......happened across him by chance and was mesmerized by the info he passed on about a watch he was showing.  'til then, I had but one watch!  Then, the sickness crept in.

However, when he left that place, I quit watching his pseudo-fill-in after one show.  Will now shut up.  Your last Vote For blew my mind--which isn't saying all that much about my mind. :D

invicta is derived from the word victim.  there philosophy is there is a victim ever minute to be had.  i am waitin for the movado like invictas.  at least with that one you would not have to worry about the second hand falling off.  hehehe.

Yeah.

I've always subscribed to the minimalist theory, but with nvicta, they manage to minimize EVERYTHING from the quality, to the customer, to the designs they steal.

If Eeyore thought for even a second that he wouldn't have to pay for legal counsel, he would have his design team (Hector, Benjamin and Trini Lopez, Jr.) produce a Movado look alike in the heart beat of a Miami minute!

But unfortunately, every time another unsuspecting consumer stumbles upon nvicta, they prove "US" incorrect by sending their dollars to Hallandale. Until either saturation or utter greed takes over (the family sells the business), the Lalo tribe will prosper as they cash the checks from slopnbc.

Oh well..........................what ju gonna do?

So........where is the GOON when we need him?  Someone simply HAS TO blindly step up and defend the indefensible with "what-ifs", outrageously untrue (yet very Eeyor-like) statements and comparisons to Notre Dame!

Just like the police...............can't never find one when ya need one!

why buy a nardin freak watch for up to 44,000 dollars when you can have a invictim frick watch for 129.00 and with your slop 50.00 off coupon 79.00.  the quality on the frick is unsurpassed.  no one can duplicate it.  the watch may not tell time but your wife will love it and all your friends will be amazed by it, hell they might not even know it is a watch and hehehe (they maybe right)    so all you nay sayers out there... become a victim. if you have any problems just call the aclu they will always stand up for victims.    just my two penny talk.

Just recalled Cheeps' opening post:

Is it true that if someone loses their voice due to mad cow disease they also can't email, post on forums or write mind numbing goofiness for others to read?

Could this have affected the Drag??????  :?   Man, we could use his expertise right about now, very true.  ;)

As to the frick watch, there's Activa that duplicates it--oh, wait, that's a Nvicta, too--sorta, in a way.

I am STILL concerned that the original question posed may be a future pandemic just waiting to infect ALL THE REST OF US!

It just seems that immediately after the person contracted hoof & mouth disease, he/she went silent!

Then the revelation that their voice was gone and the whisperings about "Mad Cow Disease"!

This simply is NOT a laughing matter!:X

hehehehehehehehehehe:P:P

Well OK..................................maybe it is.

FEMA & Hazmat Teams are on their way to the afflicteds place of work to quarantine the location as I type!

:(:(

Although The Infectious Disease Center feels that there is little to no risk of real infection from the Mad Cow disease, they are really concerned about................

....................the side effects.

You know.................like:

1.) Foaming at the mouth.
2.) Buying ornate, diamond gangsta rings for each finger.
3.) Using excessive facial hair dye.
4.) Having random tatoos placed in awkward places.
5.) Chronic traits of clinical depression masked by ego driven outbursts.
6.) Writing a fictional novel and discovering it is ALL about yourself.
7.) Misfiring loaded weapons which you do not really own.
8.) Attending concerts of burned out senior citizens.
9.) Claiming parenthood of unknown children.
10.) Uncontrollable sniffing and nose rubbing.
11.) Writing checks you do not intend to really send.
12.) Severe halitosis.
13.) Wearing the color black 24/7.
14.) Wearing logo jewelry that no one recognizes.
15.) Incessant jabbering.

............................and on and on.

If anyone exhibits even ONE of these peculiar side effects, PLEASE seek immediate medical help!

Please do not panic!  This may just be an isolated case! Only time will tell.

The haste caused by my concern about this nasty illness obviously caused me to type really fast and possibly leave crucial details out. For example: Infectious Disease Control Center as opposed to the Infectious Disease Center.

My aplogies to all, but this virulent strain of a deadly malady has me all upset and acting with rampant concern and speed!

For any who may have had communications from any of the listed agencies, OR from any individual supposedly infected in this tragedy, or their representative(s) please take their cautions/admonitions with a grain of salt. Complete and utter self dillusion should have been listed as Side Effect #16 !! In fact there is a well written article in the latest issue of The New England Journal Of Medicine exploring what they are referring to as Egomaniacal Habituation Of Purloining as a/the possible culminating result from any number of 3 or more of the exhibited side effects in tandem or exhibited within a 1 or 2 hour time span collectively.

It also appears that the research has uncovered a causal effect between possible Mad Cow Disease and exposure to high frequency broadcast signals and high intensity lighting. This effect has NOT been documented nor confirmed by either blind studies or scientific data. It is ONLY a supposition at this time. But exercise extreme caution in this regard! Turn off your Surefire flashlight if you are standing in a field under a  microwave tower!

:X:X:X Only YOU can prevent this insiduous disease from spreading wildly!

You have taken the side effect list up to 18 with a possible 19th entering the picture. Is refered to as "clucking".

Okay, we're to pray for an antidote, seek immediate medical help, don't panic AND yet somehow, some way we must stop this insidious disease because it may be an isolated case.

The only solution I can figure is to turn off the tv at very specific hours of very specific days....i.e. Thursdays, Sundays, Mondays.  Surely, that will contain the spread of what has developed.  Does this have a modicum of sense to it?

PS--you move around a lot; read like fascinating locales.

What a great idea!

As with most of life's brilliant solutions and creative responses to plague, disease, war, famine, pestilence, etc. the finding of a REAL cure started with just such a simple idea!

Next time you feel potential harm or possible exposure to this terrible illness..............just stand up, turn off ALL appliances and start making "clucking" sounds!
:):):):)

It just might save YOUR life!

Regretfully, it seems that even if the suspected "carrier" of this dread malady were diagnosed as "disease free", NO ONE wants to be "like" em'  !!!

Conversely, it appears that NO ONE even marginally "likes" em' in any regard!

Tis a shame I say! A shame!

Recent "viewed" behaviour of the infected party indeed indicate some early symptoms of "loss of voice"!

Is this the beginning of The End?

I call for a COMPLETE quarantine of the infected area!:X

Even distance can't protect you!

If you received any correspondence or packages from this individual we suggest returning the same unopened immediately! Pity the UPS guy!:(

Hard to believe all the "viewers" who opt to read these warnings and yet still continue to exhibit slow response to this tragedy. THEY have been warned. Correct?

Yes, definitely Correct.

However, I see a problem, a conundrum--if you will.  Quarantine of infected area BUT distance won't work????

It is becoming obvious that you yourself have contracted Something........you have "recently viewed", and that was enuf.  Further proof of your incipient contraction of said disease is your delirious use of UPS! ! !

Man, is it even contractable via posts??????????  Am I, too, now doomed?

PS:  is there some easier/faster way of getting to page 8 of the longest thread in fora history?
