Here's the deal and need advice>>>>>>>>

Sold an item on the 'bay yesterday. (non-watch related) bidder is from UK. My ad says ship to USA only. Not a big deal i added $10 to the shipping fee.

Today I get an e-mail from the buyer and he is in Brazil on his way to Nigeria:shock: He contacted the USPS and wants it shipped there express mail. Will add $100 o the auction price for shipping charges.

WTF should I do? I am going to the post office to check rates, but should I even mess around with this?

TIA for any advice.

If this is done with paypal, don't ship to Nigeria, its on the banned list. Just refund his money, and tell him the Uk was the intent, but the auction stated conus. It sounds like he's setting you up for cancelling his payment as soon as you ship.

Thanks O! at least I'm good at something. Thats a real familiar scam. I get at least 1 or 2 a month and get ebay to relist my items for free.

Run - run as fast as you can away.  No one in their right mind sells or sends to anyone even remotely connected with Nigeria.  Its the scam capital of the universe.

Since feedback is the most important thing on ebay, and a exellent referance source, as long as ebay is made aware of this, they can block any feedback now. If you waited another day, once the feedback is up its there for life. I have had to kiss alot of ass to keep mine at 100% because of shady buyers and sellers. You can also in the future just state that no one with less than 10 feedbacks can bid, and no negative feedback bidders either. That way you can cancel anybodies bid that doesn't meet your requirements for the auction.

Sorry I didn't see this post yesterday. As a credit card merchant, I'm regularly updated on all the fraud stuff. Never, ever, ever, ever, ship to Nigeria or Indonesia.

Things to look out for:

1) no regard for extra costs involved

2) wants items shipped express; FEDEX/DHL/UPS

3) "free" email address

It's amazing how many times I get orders from a 'non-suspect' country, such as Singapore, then they add in the comments section "Please Send Express by FEDEX or UPS".

Good Luck!

Thanks
Marc

Thanks Mark for the info.

It appears that the bidder and winner of my item used a bonifide members account to bid with per an e-mail from e-bay.

Seems like E-bay does have some good though maybe not foolproof systems in place.

Thanks again for the advice everyone..saved me a lot of grief. Another reason this forum party.gif
