Just my 2cents worth here.  But I'd look for other options before I went to a quartz motor.  My Oris divers were Sellita equiped.  Extremely accurate, nice looking movements.  Might be worth looking into.

Many of us would rather see a Swiss auto movemnt, but it that proves impossible I'd buy a SeaAngler with an asian self-winder before I'd spend money on a quartz watch.

A kinetic movement is as close to quartz as I can get.  Just don't like the idea of having to open a water resistant caseback routinely for battery changes.

That's just me though!

I've owned 2 Sea Anglers and liked them both.  I'd go for another one with quartz - depending on the price.  Everyone needs at least one quartz watch.  Makes it easy to set the autos by ;)

If it means the difference between Orsa making a living or not making a living, then Id support you either way.

I could go with the 515 Berg, but I like Danny's view on the Sellita too.

I'm with Dannys view...no Quartz for a Sea Angler...

maybe you found a alternative here..it's a Jointventure of Sellita and Muehle Glashuette or a Claro Semang what's in the Zodiac Oceanaire..

I wouldn't mind seeing a Swiss Made Sea Angler in a Chrono/Quartz  version with the Orange dial and Black bezel!hand6.gif

Now you're talking.....orange dial / black bezel sounds good.  There's an automatic and quartz version of the Marathon....why not the Sea Angler.  Isn't there a swiss quartz movement out there with sweeping second hand?

The 715LI as  lithium 10  year battery life , the 515 is 48 months .

the sea angler is very popular , why not making a quartz version? , the price will be lower and the watch will be the same , i could make a orange and yellow dial.

I'd be interested in thermo-compensated quartz, like the ETA 955.652.  There's nothing wrong with quartz if it's quality.  A mechanical watch should be opened every 3-5 years for service and new seals anyway, so battery changes are really a non-issue in my opinion.

Cheers,
Colin

The 715 is pretty nice too.
