Hi 3Ters

We have had Monstrums in the hands of eager WISs for a while now - has anyone taken photos of strap or bracelet variations yet that they can post for us to drool over?

Mine hasn't arrived yet, but I reckon it will be the dogs bollocks on a nice bead blasted mesh. Looks like a call to watchadoo while waiting for the SS bracelet from Berg. Or is the articulated lug pin arrangement going to make the watch less comfortable to wear on anything other than an OEM bracelet?

Let's see what you have chosen to do to personalise your Montrums (is the plural of Monstrum "Monstra"?) :D

Cheers all!  thankyou.gif

Cheers IWR

No doubt! But there have been posts about Berg's upcoming bracelet, and people wanting strap variations - I was just wondering. Oh well - with no disrespect meant to anyone, I might be the first to put this thing on mesh.

Mine still hasn't arrived yet - so I promise to wait and see.

Thanks for the heads up!

I notice you are in the UK - I lived in Esher, worked in Walton-on-Thames, and then in the Midlands (and a bit of time in Larkhall, in Scotland, too) in the late 70s for a couple of years and had an absolute blast.

If not for our weak Aussie dollar aagainst the pound, I might still be there...

Have a great day! IanMhand6.gif

I've seen a lot of people use Watchadoos with their Orsas. Would the Monstrum look okay with a brushed Watchadoo, or should I spring for the "sand blasted finish"?

Hey hector and song

That is exactly my dilemma. "My" Monstrum arrived barely 20 minutes ago and I could not wait to get it on my wrist.

Man - this thing is HUGE! Nice packaging and in perfect condition - despite its long journey to Western Australia...

I have already sized the strap. I am finding it quite comfortable because that gel strap really is a cracker.

But I want to dress mine up a bit . Im gonna spring for the ORSA bracelet. I can't quite imagine what the watchadoo would look like - given that the std gel strap has fill-ins bewtween the lug screws and the case body, and is articulated in a way that the SeaAnglers are not.

Patience again I suppose!

But still interested to see what you guys have come up with as strap options!!

Cheers and thanks for the input!  IanM

Yeah its nice to have bands to switch as well. I like rubber bands in the summer and bracelets in the winter. I actually haven't ordered mine yet, I think I am going to hold out for the green version. I'm just trying to see how much money to save up! I think a bracelet is definitely something I am going to need to spring for.

Hi hector

I agree. But with me it is that the gel bands don't "breathe". In Summer here it gets to 45 degrees C. Perspiration is a bit of a problem...

That said, after wearing various Panerai for years, I guess I am also just used to the weight of a metal bracelet. Option B was the go from forumers when Berg showed us some bracelet types - here is a link in case you missed it.

http://www.timetechtalk.com/view_topic.php?id=7518&forum_id=32&page=1

At $295 plus shipping for the watch, and another ?? for the bracelet - it is still IMHO a pretty good deal.

And the single butterfly clasp with the lock in flip and the twin button release is good looking, probably going to be easy to scuff (as time will tell for me and my fellow desk-divers!) but it feels substantial enough to do its job. Apparently the SS bracelet is 5mm thick - that can only be a good thing. But I would like to see screw pins, not spring pins, in the SS band that I buy.

Just my 2c.

Cheers, and I think your wait will be worth it for the green one - IanM

Here is my Monstrum on a Shane Dalurian "black widow" strap.  Its the only strap I have that is thick enough to match this beast.

Hi ericL

THATS what I'm talking about! Your combo is perfect. And because of the thickness of the strap, there is very little space left between the strap and the watch case.  Very nice!

The Monstrum is the biggest "wearing" watch in my collection.  A strap like this lifts it a lot! The rubber is good - but it just isn't "me". I see what you mean about thinner straps maybe being less appropriate!

I knew that Berg wanted a 5mm thick SS bracelet for a reason - now I see why!

And what do the other owners think about the domed crystal - are you finding it easy to live with?

Keep 'em coming y'all !!

thankyou.gif for posting your excellent pics! IanM

Thanks folks.  Yeah, thats why I said the watchadoo has met its match (and then some) with the Monstrum - the bracelet just isn't thick enough to offset the tall crystal.  I admit I prefer the normal Sea Angler's flat crystal (no reflection normally), but can get used to the dome crystal as well (which reflects everything).
