So, I've been dying to know what you guys think of them. On a quality scale, how do these match up against higher priced watches (Omega, etc.)?

IMHO, the fit and finish on the Boschett watches is way better than you would expect on a watch at this price point, i also own two Reef Rangers.

The bracelet on the CD is unbelievable, my wife just helped me size it and she even commented on how nice it looked and how well it was made....she usually just says "oh that's nice", and carries on with her day.

The case is heavy and fitted together perfectly...the bezel even has the "as advertised" 120 clicks...I counted them (somewhat of an inside joke)!!

With a different name on the dial I could easily see this watch sell for 4 or 5 times what we pay for them.

What name should I put on it? :P

Thanks Nick, great pictures and love the joke, can't believe you counted them.  And I thought I was anal.

Once again the Miyota movement blows me away ThumbsUp02.gif I set my CD on Wednesday afternoon when I received it, it was exactly 6 seconds slow to my atomic clock....just checked it again, it is now exactly 5 seconds slow to the same clock....not to shabby perfect.gif

Indeed, this is VERY good news. My eyes have recently been opened to the solid quality of these independent watchmakers' offerings. I hope to run into one of you fellow Boschett owners someday (mine is coming Monday!). Talk about a niche group. This is awesome. The only thing which makes our vices more glorious is having a community in which to express them.

Be aware if you decide to replace bracelet with the rubber  strap, there are two hole in the lug area closest one to the case is for the rubber straptoon1.gif I wouldn't believe I'm saying this I'm more of a bracelet guy, but the rubber strap looks awesome on the watch.perfect.gifperfect.gifperfect.gif IMO it looks elegant than the bracelet. Excuse the lint this was quick an extremely dirty.:)

Mark I do understand what you saying, the only reason I put the rubber strap on  was a fellow member ask to see some pictures with the rubber strap, the bracelet is just awesome.ThumbsUp02.gifThumbsUp02.gif I'm glad this member ask to see pictures on a rubber strap, if not I wouldn't have never done it. :D:D  but I'm very happy I did.anodie.gif

after talking with JP I decided to check out the fit of the rubber strap as well and it really looks and fits awesome!...seems no matter what you decide as a strap option for the Cave Dweller will work supremely well but the bracelet still rules overall ....it's nice to have options imho! perfect.gif

My #49 (Yellow accents) arrived yesterday in perfect packaging. Keith and O know how to take care of their customers. Man, what a case--what a watch. It's a beast. I am a big guy (6'2", 220 lbs) with not so big wrists. This doesn't overwhelm, I believe largely because of the clean design.

I believe the dive strap must be natural rubber, as it is far more comfortable than any other rubber strap (and just like my old SAR Marathon strap, which had the same feel). I have yet to test the lume under low-light conditions for more than a few minutes. I'm sure it will be good.

This is a bargain watch (based on price, NOT on quality). It will surely garner looks from anyone who appreciates quality and quality timepieces.

Thanks, guys!

Good to see yours arrived. Wear it wellhand6.gif True story on this one, when it arrived at the office I did not have proper tools to size the bracelet so in my travels, I stopped at my local watch guy Eric...he specializes in vintage clock repair and pocket watches. When I handed him the watch to size...I could see a gleem in his eye:D I began to tell him about the forum and that this watch was made by members there. After he was done....he asked me how he could buy oneThumbsUp02.gif Not a bad endorsement from someone who I'm sure has seen the gamut of fine timepiece.

Keith/ Oscar you guys have a winner here..congratsperfect.gif

#49. I have no idea how you guys take such great photos. Tips would be helpful (I am using the close-up mode with the flash off. Any other pointers?).

I absolutely love this watch. I was wondering what it reminded me of, then I realized it's similar to the Kobold diver, but I actually like this watch more!

Number 36 arrived safe and sound! You guys took all the good pics already, so I'll just join the crowd to say what a great watch this is. I have to roll my sleeve over it at work if I want to walk more than 5 feet without someone wanting to see it.  I love the clean, bold dial and unique lugs. The bracelet balances the watch head perfectly, so I find it incredibly comfortable as well.

Great job, Keith and O.

Thanks Tony & Pax ;)

Moker, I'm afraid you'll have to pay import taxes. For me it was €47. I suppose it will be something similar in The Netherlands.

But don't worry, once you'll have the watch in your hands you'll forget this little nuisance and just smile :D

Cheers!

I'm afraid so Zarith.....

How long did custom clearance take for you?
Mine is in there from 02-02-2009 7.27pm
Makes you wonder what the difficulty is....package is clearly labeled and insured.....???!!!!

I have heard cases where a package (also watch packages) will take up to 2 months!!!!! to get out of customs.
Hope it is not like that now!!!!

Cheers

there are plenty of removable links in the cave dweller... you should get one. I have a 6.5 wrist and I only wear 44+ these days. I will shoot some wrist shots soon, but I want to try and capture how people see it from about 4 feet away and not 8 inches away, so I will have to set up the tripod.

Thanks so much.  ThumbsUp02.gif  It's not the dial width that concerns me.  It's the lug to lug width and the height.  I've had 44's before but never something almost 17 mm high!

Boschett Cave Dweller is as good or better in person, than photos.  I own #069.  A friend was over Sat night wearing Rolex GMT (his weekend "beater")... the Rolex GMT is an expensive watch... the crystal on the Rolex was scratched all over.   Rolex GMT is about 38 - 39 mm?  Compare the quality of stainless case, the Cave Dweller had as good or better finish.  Rolex has deep grind marks on the top of the lugs.  Cave Dweller has unbelievable presence, size, weight, and in a direct comparison (even overlooking the Rolex badly worn crystal) the comparison, was not really fair -- my brother looking at the Cave Dweller simply exclaimed "I've got to get a Cave Dweller."

I have worn OMEGA Seamaster, and the watch is really nice... but a few minutes later, the thrill kind of fades.  Quality of OMEGA is no doubt excellent, but you might expect, and demand perfection at that price.  Certainly, someone can make a better technical comparison of the movements, watch history, and all the other unique mystique to which the OMEGA is appropriately deserving.  But on a strict comparison of such things as the physical appearance of the Cave Dweller stainless, crystal, hands, clasp, indices, etc.... the Cave Dweller does not disappoint.  Oh, and the OMEGA clearly has an incredible deeply etched classic back.  Cave Dweller fairs well, but OMEGA wins in the case back finish department.

Cave Dweller delivers exactly what is promised, BIG, BOLD, SOLID, MANLY dive watch with excellent readable dial, refined indices, striking presence, great package / watch case / manual, etc...and at a price that will leave you with enough money to go and get another.  Add to this 1000 meter rating and auto Miyota mvt, and you really can't go wrong.

As much as I love the Cave Dweller I would have to say the comparison to both the Rolex GMT MasterII and Omega Seamaster are a little over the top. I own all the above (a Seamaster Aqua Terra and Pepsi Bezel GMT Master II) and the Cave Dweller and while the Cave Dweller is a fantastic value for the price paid, it doesn't and shouldn't be compared to watches in the realm of the Rolex and Omega. And that's not to say fit and finish on the CD isn't superb... I just don't believe this is a valid comparison. JMHO!;)

I tried to qualify my comparison with appropriate disclaimers, and intend to disrespect to ROLEX GMT or OMEGA SEAMASTER that are quite remarkable, and amongst the legendary "classic" dive watches.  You are correct, that technically and historically speaking -- that Rolex and Omega are deserving of their place in horological esteemed admiration.

The question was compare the finish of the Cave Dweller to Seamaster... I through in the bit about the Rolex GMT because it in fact happened that way Sat night.  And like I said, the Rolex was really beat up through years of neglect. Results might have been different, had the Rolex been in a presentation case.

Conclusion:I think that we all agree, that if a BIG, BOLD, SS diver is on your wish list, then for the price Cave Dweller  does not disappoint.  We all need to thank Keith Boschett for the excellent watch !
