Thought this article about a "revived brand from the 50's & 60's" coming soon with the unveiling of their website was an interesting teaser. http://oceanictime.blogspot.com/2011/01/revived-brand-from-50s-60s-coming-soon.html What I find most interesting is that the watch in the teaser (CAD view) bears a more than striking similarity to the vintage Rolex Submariner (for which Mkii recently did a homage of with the Kingston model). Don't know if the article is implying a new micro-brand, or if this will truly be a revived brand from the 50's & 60's, Any "in the know" WIS have any idea what 'Revived Brand' this might be?

looks like someone is planning on making a vintage Rolie to me...much like the MKII Kingston...Sandoz is who comes to mind for me but again it's just another Rolex homage...so imo what's all the excitement about?

When those homages come out, they are few, so prices are high...Then many case makers from HK are following and the prices are falling...Falling. Remember me the Panerai homage wave. It's cool at the beginning but right now: Where is the small companies's desire about new design and fresh blood in the watch industry????? Too many are going for the same old things: Again and again. ![]()

Great comments guys...yes, for me it's not the thought that yet another company is going to be creating yet another Rolex homage. I'm more interested in what the revived brand may be... Oscar - I think your 'Sandoz' thought makes alot of sense...I couldn't come up with anything in my rookie WIS mind.

New designs with vintage roots, not just cookie-cutter copies. The Halios Laguna gets my heart rate up every time I see pics, and the Moray2 is sheer beauty, especially the brown dart dial.

I wish I could get my hands on a big crown/no shoulder sub style case as I have a build in mind and itching to get out the tools again.

if this old Swiss Watch brand being revived is run by the original owners or family of the brand than that would be interesting but if it's just another businessman Asian or otherwise as we have seen in the past buying up these lost prestigious watch company names in order to get immediate attention and legacy of the brand does anyone really care?![]()

True that Oscar! ....It's the first scenario that you list that has me interested.

I'd even go a step further and say that as long as it's current owners are watch enthusiasts -- which many of the smaller boutique manufacturers clearly are -- I'm interested. I agree that a group of investors with no interest in watches other than profit has no interest for me. The difficulty comes in discerning between the two. Presence and participation on the various watch forums would be a good indication.

I agree with the majority...just another homage...For all the money we've spent on the lookalikes we could have purchased the real deal!!!

Digging around for a while, the info i got is that this is being released/made by Techne watches. Of course it will be branded with whatever brand name they are reviving. So it sounds a little like the scenario mentioned above where instead of the original owners reviving a brand, someone has gotten the rights to an older brand name and will use it to get recognition, but watch has nothing really to do with the original brand history. I am tried of the copies.. uh ..er .. i mean "homages" and much prefer to spend my money with companies who take the time and effort to design their own original products. There are many good ones right here on this forum.
