This one has made my list for the last couple of years so I decided it was about time I did something about it. I found one gently used and pounced. In short the watch is everything I expected and more.

At 42.2mm the case is plenty large and I have found a magic sweet spot right around 42mm-43mm. Large enough to ooze presence but not overpowering. This is a Seamaster case and rightfully belongs to that family, but Omega opted to put these on an almost, dare I say,  brushed Oyster styled bracelet foregoing the Seamaster style bracelet with its polished ridges and dual button diver’s clasp.  Instead the Aqua Terra gets a nifty little single button sliding fold over clasp which takes a moment to get used to but buckles like a breeze once you’ve mastered the motion. The bracelet is excellent with half links for fine adjustments. In lieu of a diver’s bezel there is instead a polished fixed bezel which sparkles and gives the dial plenty of presence. The snow white dial with blued applied indices is simply beautiful in my opinion. Utterly stark, superbly clean, timelessly classic. The distinctive arrow tipped minute hand and speared hour hand are blued and contain a tiny bit of lume, the minute hand’s on the arrow tip and the spear’s nearer the axis. Luminous dots around the outer dial mark out five minute increments. The lume is persistent and the watch remains legible far into the night. A lovely domed sapphire with inner AR (per pictograms) keeps the dial looking ultra crisp. Rated for 150m WR, the Aqua Terra has a screw down crown which functions effortlessly. I believe the 2500 caliber in the Aqua Terra is based on a 2892, and it winds and sets extremely smoothly and securely. We’ll see how the Co-Axial Chronometer keeps time and holds up over time. It sure is pretty as it’s visible through a transparent case back and is Rhodium coated to give it an extra sweet sheen.

The first Omega I’ve wanted enough to chase after a bit. This watch is simply outstanding with superb fit and finish. The previous owner treated this watch right and now its mine to muck up! It seems this would be a dress watch to many, but in my mind at this size and with the screw down and 150m WR I think of the Aqua Terra as a sport watch. Guess that just goes to show how much I’m aging!

Great review...I have never really lusted after an Omega, but this one sure is a beauty.  I especially like the hands - which is the "turn-off" for me on most Omega designs!
