Those tiny threads, especially cut into stainless, are delicate. Anything that more rigid than about a Delrin plastic will probably knock the edge off them if you're not careful. Cleaning buggered threads of that size without a blind tap and a lathe is near impossible. Treat with kid gloves! (and toothpicks)

Can anyone say what exactly is the correct size screwdriver needed to change straps for the Moray then? Sorry if this question was answered somewhere already, didn't find it as I skimmed through.

A bit of a pain. I took one screw out and tried to push the tube out the other side with a springbar tool. No luck. What worked great was not to take the screw all the way out, and then give it a tap to break free the tube. Took out the screw and pushed out the tube without a problem. Good luck, Bob

the simple solution is that if you have no experience in this area or are not mechanically inclined then do not attempt to change your own straps or re-size your bracelets as you are only inviting headaches...take it to someone who can or practice on an older,cheaper watch is my advice...even the right tool in the wrong hands can be a problem imho hand6.gif

I have a cheap screw diver set from Croton that I got from slop and they work fine....not sure of the proper size but it was almost the smallest screw drive in the box.....

I wanted to share my experience on removing the lug bar screws. Soaking the lug bars (not the watch itself) in hot tap water for a minute helped loosen up the loctite, also helped with removing the lug bars as well. FYI, I picked this tip up on another thread at watchuseek, so I wanted to give credit where it was due.

I'll just echo David's comment (although I soaked my entire Moray in "warm" not "hot" tap water for a couple minutes). Worked like a charm. Lug screws came out just fine with the included screwdrivers (just take your time and be deliverately careful with what you are doing).woohoo.gif

Wish I would have know this earlier ;) My Moray is deadly stuck and one of the bar just won't come out :? . I inserted a small pin into the screw hole and tried to knock it off, but no luck :? At the end, for fear that I might damage the watch, I gave up and sent to professional hand to handle the problem. Still do not get it back :(

I believe the secret tool here is a clamp. you can't hold 2 screw drivers and a watch, that is a formula for disaster. I have changed out about 5 different morays without needing the heat, but that does probably help... and I have gotten the screws off without damaging the screws or the watch... using the drivers it came with. So I clamp the watch down, a real WIS would use a case vise, I use the trusty plastic woodworkers clamp shown in the bezel thread. then I try each screw to see if it will unscrew without using both drivers, if the bar is in there tight, then the screw will come out with using 1 driver, even with the loc-tite. then I use this pin/strap changing tool and this plastic/metal hammer to tap the lug bar out. the pin goes in the lug bar, fits inside the treads, reached the solid part of the lug bar, then tap, tap, it comes right out. works every time without damage.

I probably be one of the very unfortunate guy then. One of the Moray that I have is OK, but another one is real bad. Tried so hard but fail, scratched the watch some more .... :( However, didn't try with heat though ... :?
