Nobody in perticular, but Why do some sellers never post a pic of theyre watch when they are selling it and ask you to email them for Scans? Is it just as simple as they dont know how to post a pic or is it a private issue or Other? Thanks Just one of those things that have always crossed my mind when surfing the forums, and as they say "A picture is worth a thousand words" Thanks Einstein |

I've prabably missed some good watches but I am a power serfer. Many windows open at a time so when cruising the watch sales post if they don't have a pic I just bypass and go to the next. But the thought crosses my mind all the time. ![]() |

I only as for "scans" if it is really someting I am serious about. Otherwise I just pass it by. And why do they refer to them as scans. I mean are these guys firing up the old 35mm, getting film developed and then scanning the photos? Most of the time the pix are crap and I am guessing that's why the sellers don't post pix... because they have trouble taking them!! |

Describes me to a "T". hand6.gif If the seller can't be bothered to post photos - even bad ones - I just go on. I don't have the time for a pen pal relationship. |

I agree in principal... but if it is a watch that everyone knows... I think it is sometimes acceptable... for instance.. Orsa Sea Angler, Sumo, Seiko 007... something like that to me, I don't care about a picture posted, of course to verify that the seller (if I don't know them from the forums) actually has the said watch, I will request a specific date and time on the watch and send me the picture verifying that he actually owns said piece. |

One word....Lazy. And IMO not serious about really selling their watch. I completely agree with what you guys have said, I just pass by posts without photos. I can't tell you how many times I have had success selling watches and knives using nice photograph of the item. In many cases I've gotten a premium price over the other guy selling the same thing because of nice photos in my posts. Yeah, it takes extra time and effort but in the end it's worth it. |

Oh yeah, and I really wish people would stop calling them SCANS. They are photographs, pics, shots, jpegs but not scans. A true "scan" is if someone had a flatbed scanner and layed the watch on the scanner and scanned it. But then you have to save that digital image as a jpeg in order to post it on a forum. ....... OK, I'm done now. :D |

I believe folks call them 'scans' because that's how they used to do 'em. I still deal with some vendors who 'scan' their watches. Also, in the beginning of digital photography, it was a scanner for high res pix that took a long time to shoot one image. There' alot of photo buffs here, so I'm sure someone else will speak up. As far as 'email me', I just pass em by. Perhaps I should change my website to decrease bandwidth; I'll just describe the watch and say "email me for pics" !!! :) |

For me, even know its a watch that I know, its the picture of it that gets me excited to buy it, its like sensory overload and I just have to have it that much more. Marketing. Call me a sheep I also love it when people put the specs and mostly the Size, it helps me weed em out quickly. Cheers Crue4 wrote: I agree in principal... but if it is a watch that everyone knows...
