...and, once again, I question the business ethics of Ocean7 and its owner. To me, it has always been a slightly dishonest, cult-like operation. He sucks people in by making them think they are participating in the design of a watch that, in reality, is made with "off-the-shelf" components. Not only that, but to immediately delete a simple and legitimate question by a quality poster shows a lack of willingness for open and honest communication, a total lack of respect for the customer and lack of moral compass...in other words, it is downright sleazy. It almost sounds as if Eyal or JS owned the company. On the other hand, Boschett is everything that Ocean7 is not...a great watch with an unbelievable quality construction and outstanding customer service at a fantastic price. But, hey...that's just me!!!

Well you mention the 500-600 range .....I can understand that when you see the Bochett for 500 ...... the watch you can buy from them is a solid , well built watch for 499 ! I wanted an Omega Proplof, but at 5000-20,000 for one I cant do that! And I do think for what I will have paid, I will be happy when I finally do get it :?

Hey CJ, I'm right there with ya buddy. I have a pre-order in for an LM-7 too. The length of time this watch is taking is nuts. I used to check the forum over there regularly for any bit of news on that model I could savor. Very little to say the least. It got frustrating so I just quit checking. I actual forget that it's comming until a new thread pops up about it. I figure when it shows up it shows up. I'm sure it will be nice when it eventually arrives. Like you, I really like the Omega Ploprof but I'll be damned if I pay the going rates for one of those these days.

When it comes it comes and I'm sure I'll love it. Until then I have plenty of other watches to keep me company.;)

1. Mitch posts progress as it occurs, usually in a thread on the forum but ALWAYS in the Project Status thread, which is a sticky at the top of the forum. 2. That sticky also includes the O7 Forum Rules. One of those rules specifically states that threads requesting status reports on watch progress will be deleted. This is done in order to keep the forum orderly and useful - there is nothing unethical or underhanded about it. With numerous people waiting for numerous watches, things would quickly get out of hand otherwise. 3. Updates on the LM-7 are posted regularly, about every 3-4 weeks as news happens. There has never been "months" between updates. The latest update was 3 weeks ago. Mitch has apologised for being largely absent from the forum for the past two weeks. He's had some distractions recently from what I understand. 4. Delays with the LM-7 have been excessive, no doubt. Mitch rejected the initial case design when he saw it in late Nov '07, making significant changes (which were specified on the forum). Further, but less significant, changes were made after the latest prototype was reviewed a few months ago. 5. Warranties being made non-transferrable was in response to WIS behaviour. Pre-orders were being sold at outrageous prices (e.g. $500) and to eliminate speculation and gouging Mitch had to put the non-transferrable warranty policy in place. It has nothing to do with 'avoiding repairs'. Mitch has always stood by his watches IME, even when damage was likely due to owner negligence. 6. Deposit complaints are relative IMO. $25,000 isn't much when the watch producer pays 4-5 times that up front to get his place in the queue for movements, cases, hands, dials, etc. Mitch has as much incentive to get this watch shipped as one could imagine and should be congratulated on not doing the easy thing, but instead making sure the watch is right. I would say (and have said) the same thing to Bill Yao, to whom I paid a larger deposit 12 months ago for my still uncompleted Sea Fighter. Same to Jorg Schauer, to whom I paid in full for a Stowa FO in March that will not be delivered until September. $250 for a year or $1600 for 6 months - which is more egregious? Project delays are epidemic in the bespoke/small maker world these days. They would be worse if Swatch Group had more to say about it.

Even though I encouraged Mitch in this project at the beginning and contributed along the way as did other members, I have no 'insider' knowledge - just the same source that everyone else has. 2nd post from the top: Nalu wrote: 3. Oscar, I posted a link directly to the thread with the updates and it's gone? I've seen links to WUS here before :? I think it would be best for those who have 'invested' $250 so far to read the words directly on the O7 forum if they are truly interested. It's very time consuming for me, with my limited bandwidth here in the IZ (basically dial-up speeds), to cut and paste, opening and closing windows just to copy someone else's words. This is the chief reason I've been largely a lurker these days and not entering photo contests - sending a 400Kb file takes forever! Some posts (like my FrankenPlof post) with lots of photos can take over an hour to get done, but I don't mind doing them since it's helping folks in the community (saved the last guy $9600 when he was able to cancel the eBay transaction!). But why not just go to O7 and read the info for oneself instead?
